Greensboro College Women’s Lacrosse Coach Dixon-Graves Resigns, Bickerstaff Hired as Replacement

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — Greensboro College women’s lacrosse coach and Senior Woman Administrator Charlotte Dixon-Graves announced her resignation on Tuesday. Dixon-Graves will be moving closer to home in Maryland, where her husband Kevin recently accepted a job opportunity.

Former assistant coach Robert Bickerstaff will be returning to Greensboro College to assume the position of head coach. Bickerstaff had left Greensboro in August, after three years, to accept a position with St. Leo University near his home in Florida.

“We are very excited to have Coach Bickerstaff returning to Greensboro College,” said Greensboro College Athletic Director Jean Lojko. “Coach Bickerstaff showed last year what he is capable of when he took over the team while Coach Dixon-Graves was on maternity leave.”

While serving as an assistant coach under Dixon-Graves, Bickerstaff also oversaw the Greensboro College Royce Reynolds Family Student Life Center and assisted in the Sports Information Department on campus.

“He truly multi-tasked, running the Reynolds Center, helping with Sports Information, and coaching the team,” Lojko added. “Being the head coach will now give Coach Bickerstaff the authority to run the program with his philosophies and goals. We believe that Coach Bickerstaff will not only continue our winning tradition but take us to the next level of winning the conference and going to the NCAA Tournament.”

Dixon-Graves, meanwhile, compiled a record of 36-28 in four years at Greensboro College. The win total left her tied with Greg Gebhard for the most wins in program history. Prior to becoming head coach, she served as an assistant coach for one year under Gebhard.

“Coach Dixon-Graves has been instrumental in the success of both our Women’s Lacrosse Program and the Athletic Department in general,” Lojko commented. “She led the team to second place finishes in the conference each year of her tenure. As the SWA, she has proven her administrative abilities by helping with many reports and programs.”

The role of Senior Woman Administrator will be filled by head softball coach Whitney Gelin. Gelin has been with Greensboro College for five years and is entering her third year overseeing the softball program.

“Coach Gelin will have her hands full replacing Coach Dixon-Graves,” added Lojko. “Although we will miss Charlotte, I know she is making a move that will be best for her family. We wish her well.”
