College Volleyball Final – Guilford 3, Hollins 0

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Laura Kopald and Emma Gunn both had nine kills in Guilford College’s 25-21, 25-18, 25-19 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Hollins University Thursday night.

The victory marked the Quakers’ (4-11, 1-3 ODAC) first in league play. Hollins fell to 4-11, 1-3 in the ODAC.

Kopald hit .129 for the match and also contributed two service aces and five digs. Gunn hit .250 for Guilford and chipped in a block. Setter Taylor Whitley contributed 26 assists and five digs. Senior Taylor Phillips averaged eight digs per set with 24 digs on the night and cleanly handled all 17 service reception attempts. Senior Mary Moods added four kills, two service aces and 17 digs.

Lauren Hays had nine kills on .412 hitting with two blocks for the hosts. Ally Reed added eight kills and 19 digs. Simone Mendez picked up a match-high 26 digs.

Guilford hosts Maryville (Tenn.) College Friday at 6:00 p.m.
