LINE UP:Winston-Salem State has begun giving refunds, after big blowup at Chris Paul’s charity basketball game, this past Saturday night at WSSU

Winston-Salem State University began giving refunds this afternoon to ticket-holders who were turned away Saturday night from an exhibition game featuring some of the NBA’s most high-profile stars.

About 100 people had lined up for refunds by noon.

Winston-Salem State is investigating what happened at the Chris Paul CP3 All Star Pickup Game at the Gaines Center on campus. The facility has capacity for more than 3,000 people, and fewer tickets than that were printed for the basketball game, a WSSU spokesman told WGHP/FOX8, the Winston-Salem Journal’s news-gathering partner.

It was unclear this weekend whether fraudulent tickets were printed, or whether there was some other problem.

“We have no answers right now,” said Charles Paul, Chris Paul’s father.
