13 thoughts on “Top High School Basketball Players in the Nation from the Phenom Hoops Report(Class of 2012)

  1. Unless I am missing something, why is Theo’s name not on this list. I did not read anything that said the list was for only seniors and juniors. I know a lot went into the making of this list but I have found that a lot of these “scouting and rating” services are extremely bias to their region of the state or country. I have seen boys and girls ranked in the top 100 that could not even make their starting line ups on their AAU teams. A lot of these services seem to cater to specific organizations based on their past relationships. I have no reason to believe that the list above falls into that category but I am just point out the fact that a lot of players often get overlooked from 1 list to the other.

  2. I scanned the list about 10 times looking for the same thing and many of these players are upper classmen and since Theo is only a sophomore maybe that is where the line has been drawn…..

The Phenom Hoops Report strives to cover many of the kids that are under the radar, but Rodney Purvis(Upper Room) is on here and so is Montay Brandon(Wesleyan) and both just recently committed to ACC schools, with Purvis to N.C. State and Brandon to Florida State….

I noticed the same thing you did when I copied the list and thendid the print and check on it some more and find out why Pinson is not here…..

  3. Talked to Rick and this is Class of 2012 only…..As we all know, Theo is in the Class of 2014….

That eliminates any confusion……Purvis a senior and Brandon a senior and all others seniors…..I was thinking it was just upper clasmen and it is, just the seniors…….Class of 2012…..

  4. Well if anyone would have read the whole title that had (class of 2012) beside it then there wouldn’t be any confusion smart guys!?!?!

  5. Is it me, or do none of these kids go to public schools? And don’t tell me they go to private or charter schools because they are looking for a better education, we know that isn’t true!

  6. You are correct that the majority of these kids are not playing directly in the public school system and it will only get worst. Within the next 3 years, the girls side will mirror the boys. Thus, the best players for both boys and girls will be in a local or regional private or prep or acedemy type of school. The public schools (especially in Guilford Co) have circled the troops in an attempt to keep the “private” schools out. They have wrongful concluded that if we do not play or even acknowledge their existence, then that will cut back on the chance of them “taken”, “recruiting” or whatever you want to call it, for the kids still in the public school programs. This has been and will continue to be the nail in the coffen for these programs. Good/Great players are already aware of these programs via friends, coaches, the AAU circuit and various media outlets such as this site. If Guilford Co (and other schools) were smart, they would fight this problem head on and stop avoiding these private school programs. The best players will follow the best programs and coaches. The best programs will travel out of the area to play “real” competition and help create the need for scouts and coaches to come see you play during the high school season. Unless you are just that good, scouts and coaches will never see you play in the average public school basketball game locally because it is not worth them going to see 1 slight better than average player when they can go to one of these private school and see not only 2-3 junior and seniors that could play for them but now these programs are getting enough talent that their freshman and sophmore class have good enough talent for their college programs. Wake up Guilford Co or you will figure out soon that all of your talent has left the court and your school.

  7. Hey! Where is Reggie Dillard’s name. One of the best players in the nation and can play for any school in the nation. Someone must have not been doing their reseasrch on this. He helped PJ by doing all the dirty work to free PJ up when he was at Dudley.

  8. Reggie is now at Junior at Greensboro Day School and now in the Class of 2013….This list just has names from the Class of 2012…..Top 100 from Class of 2012 on current list here…..

  9. Under the radar this young man has all the tools to be very good check him out on you tube Derrico Peck highlights of 2012
