Greensboro College Men’s Soccer Hammers Ferrum, 3-0

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — The Greensboro College men’s soccer team returned home on Wednesday and picked up a dominating 2-0 win over Ferrum. The Pride had played seven of their first eight games on the road prior to Wednesday’s contest.

Greensboro was in complete control from the beginning, and had numerous opportunities to blow the game open. Following several near misses, Stenson Croom broke the ice with an unassisted put back in the 43rd minute.

The Pride continued to fire away in the second half but were unable to pad the lead until Joe Peluso took a long goal kick from Logan Paussa and beat the keeper in the 87th minute.

Overall, Greensboro held a one sided 25-9 advantage in shots with an 11-3 margin in shots on goal. The Pride had 11 shots in the first half, 14 in the second and attmepted at least five shots on goal in each half as well.

Joe Peluso was his usual, steady self, concluding the evening with a game high six shots. Taylor Wyatt added four for The Pride, including a game high three opportunities on goal. Peluso, Wyatt, Croom, Patrick Hayes, Colby Johnson and Tino Benitez each tallied at least one shot on goal.

Woody Wilder made three saves in net to record the shut-out win.

Greensboro remains perfect at home with the win while improving to 2-4-3 overall and 1-1-0 in the USA South. The Pride will look to defend its home turf again on Saturday when Piedmont comes to town for a 1 p.m. showdown.
