Oak Hill will be the top boys high school basektball team in the nation this season and when you read here, you can see why

Info below from Rick Lewis at the Phenom Hoops Report……Oak Hill is loaded like always and I would love to see a game here locally(Triad) with Oak Hill vs. Greensboro Day School, Wesleyan or High Point Christian……

Look at this list/roster and you’ll see, why they will be, the team to beat again this year……Rick took a look at these guys in early September……

Player: 6’11 A.J. Hammonds

High School: Oak Hill Academy

Hometown: Carmel, IN

Class: 2012

Phenom Hoop Report: We first watched Hammonds two summers ago at the Nike
Top 100 camp in St. Louis, MO. Without question, Hammonds has tremendous
size. He is a wide body center that can occupy a lot of space on the low
block. Hammonds has a “super soft” shooting touch around the basket and has
the ability to use either hand. In addition, one of his strongest attributes
is his “soft hands.” Over the past 2 years, Hammond’s rankings have dropped
due to his “perceived lack of effort” at times. It is very difficult to
argue that his young man has a tremendous upside when he is motivated to
being as good as his potential. Simply put, this young man is a “sleeping
giant” and once the “light bulb” goes off on a consistent basis, Hammonds
has the ability and potential to be as good as he wants to be. If yesterday
was any indication, he looked motivated and played with the ability many
expect out of his young man. He was dominant in the post as he continually
used his wide body and big frame to post up on the low block. He worked hard
to gain an advantage and if the opposing player plays behind him, he has an
excellent shooting touch around the basket. Definitely a top 100 prospect or
higher in the 2012 class!

When asked what schools were his favorites, he mentioned he was “wide open.”
He did state Purdue, Minnesota, Cincinnati, and Wake Forest have all showed
a lot of interest in his services. While he currently have Hammonds ranked
#77, he does have the ability to be much more of an impact at the college
level if he brings it every game and if his determination matches his skill
set, watch out!

Player: 6’4 A.J. Curington

High School: Oak Hill Academy

Hometown: Dyer, IN

Class: 2013

Phenom Hoop Report: This was our first opportunity watching the long and
athletic wing guard from Dyer, Indiana. Curington has a nice combination of
explosiveness and quick leaping ability and is excellent in transition, but
yesterday Curington was “dialed in” from deep with his shooting ability. He
has excellent fundamentals, extension and follow through on his jumper and
has good elevation as well. The next stage in his development is to create
his own shot off the dribble. Currently, he is very good in a catch and
shoot situation or coming off screens.

When asked what schools were recruiting him, he mentioned Wake Forest,
Butler, UNC, Stanford, Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, and Harvard. He stated
Wake Forest was the early leader for his services, but was also wide open in
the recruiting process and is a definite top 100 player or higher in the
2013 class.

Player: 6’3 D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera

High School: Oak Hill Academy

Hometown: Indianapolis, IN

Class: 2012

Phenom Hoop Report: At 6’3 and 215 pounds, D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera has the
body of an NFL running back. He has extremely broad shoulders and a powerful
and strongly built college ready frame. While Smith-Rivera has good ball
handling and passing abilities, he is best at the wing guard position. He is
an excellent shooter from deep and has a rather quick release. While he is
not an explosive leaper on the offensive end of the floor, he has solid
fundamentals and basketball IQ as he utilizes pump fakes and shot fakes.
With his strong upper body, Smith-Rivera does a good job of bodying up the
opposing offensive player. The next stage in his development is learning not
to hold on to the ball as long on the offensive end of the floor as he as a
tendency to over dribble at times. That being said, he is a legit top 30
player nationally and we have him currently ranked at #29 especially since
he can transition into playing minutes at the PG position.

When asked what schools were recruiting him, he mentioned he was wide open.
He does sport offers from UCLA, Georgetown, Texas and others, many people
speculate that Xavier and Michigan State are the teams to beat for his
services. He was once committed to Xavier but in our conversation with him
yesterday, he is wide open.

Player: 5’11 Tyler Lewis

High School: Oak Hill Academy

Hometown: Statesville, NC

Class: 2012

Verbal: NC State

Phenom Hoop Report: Tyler showcased his ability to get into the lane and
create scoring opportunities for his teammates consistently yesterday.
Considered one of the top passing PG in the country and it is ability to get
teammates involved will make him a favorite of his teammates. In speaking
with Coach Steve Smith, he stated 6’11 A.J. Hammonds made the comment that
“the best thing about Oak Hill this year is Tyler Lewis.” A nice compliment
from a teammate and a smart move by the big guy to make friends with the guy
who can get you touches. The next stage in his development is to continue to
get physically stronger.

Player: 6’2 Ike Ireogbu

High School: Oak Hill Academy

Hometown: Elks Grove, CA

Class: 2013

Phenom Hoop Report: Ireogbu has all the physical intangibles that you are
looking for in a college PG. he has good size and is a tremendous athlete.
He is long and muscular and has excellent speed in the open court. He does
elevate nicely on his jumper, but has a “hitch” in his jump shot that can be
improved. He loves to attack the basket and can score in numerous ways. The
next step in his development is learning to become a vocal leader on the
court.

Currently, he sports offers from Arizona, Washington State (Brother
attends), Southern California, and Colorado. In speaking with him, he is
also wide open in his recruitment and is just enjoying the process. Ireogbu
has the potential to be really good at the next level. He has all the
physical tools and attributes and is a legit top 75 prospect in the 2013
class.

Player: 6’4 Damien Wilson

High School: Oak Hill Academy

Hometown: Austell, GA

Class: 2012

Verbal: Memphis

Phenom Hoop Report: Wilson is a long and bouncy wing guard that loves to get
out in transition. The southpaw is excellent in attacking the basket and
sports a “wicked” right to left crossover dribble. Without question, one of
the top “slashers” in the 2012 class and is very difficult to contain in
transition. He has smoothness to his game and often plays bigger than his
current 6’4 frame. He anticipates missed shots and rebounds extremely well,
especially on the defensive end of the floor. The next step in his
development is to develop a consistent outside jumper. He does have a “low
release” point at times, but was knocking down mid range shots well in
shooting drills. He should be a great addition to Memphis and is a legit top
75 prospect in the country.

Player: 6’6 Jordan Tebbutt

High School: Oak Hill Academy

Hometown: Canby, OR

Class: 2012

Phenom Hoop Report: Tebbutt is a strong and powerful undersized power
forward. He already sports a college ready frame and will surprise you with
his shooting touch. He does have the ability to step out and knock down the
open 3 point shot, but his biggest attribute may be his mid range game.
Tebbutt is one of the nicest players you will meet in high school today. He
is a very level headed young man that carries himself nicely on and off the
court.

In speaking with him, he currently has an offer from Washington and is being
recruited by Washington State and Colorado, but stated he is wide open in
his recruitment and will probably not make a decision until spring. That
being said, he is a quality young man and will be a very valuable access to
any program in the country and is a borderline top 100 player.

Player: 6’5 Jordan Adams

High School: Oak Hill Academy

Hometown: Lawrenceville, GA

Class: 2012

Verbal: UCLA

Phenom Hoop Report: Adams is still sidelined with a “walking boot” and is
out another two weeks due to a foot fracture. That being said, watching
Adams just shoot around and watching him in numerous setting, the UCLA
commitment is one of the top shooting guards in the country. He has
excellent fundamentals, technique, extension, follow through and rotation
that makes his shot one of the nicest in the 2012 class.

Player: 6’7 Montarius Hall

High School: Oak Hill Academy

Hometown: Gastonia, NC

Class: 2012

Phenom Hoop Report: Another strong PF that has excellent range on his
jumper. Currently, he is an undersized PF, but with his ability to step out
and consistently knock down mid range shots will make him an excellent catch
for a mid major program. He did run the floor rather well yesterday and
battled with A.J. Hammonds for rebounds. While he did tired somewhat at the
end of practice, he just needs a little more conditioning to reach his full
potential. While we did not get a chance to speak with Hall yesterday,
speculation is Hall may need another year of school and thus make him a 2013
prospect.

Player: 6’6 Victor Ieronmides

High School: Oak Hill Academy

Hometown: Cyprus

Class: 2013

Phenom Hoop Report: Ieronmides is a fundamentally sound wing forward that
has good basketball IQ and instincts. While not a super athlete, he
understands the game quite well and seems to find himself in the right place
at the right time on the offensive end of the court. He has a good mid range
game and solid ball handling and passing skills for his position.
