College Women’s Soccer Final – Lynchburg 5, Guilford 0

LYNCHBURG, Va. – NCAA Division III goal-scoring leader Dessi Depuy scored twice in Lynchburg College’s 5-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) soccer win over visiting Guilford College Wednesday.

Sophomore Angela Bosco also scored twice for the Hornets (11-2, 6-0 ODAC), who remained unbeaten in league play with their ninth consecutive victory. Lynchburg is ranked 23rd in this week’s NCAA Division III women’s soccer poll and leads the nation in scoring offense with over five goals per game.

Guilford (8-4-2, 3-1-2 ODAC) held Lynchburg to one first-half goal, despite getting outshot 11-0. Brittany Klippstein tallied in the 16th minute, but Quakers’ goalie Amy Baker kept her team in the match with seven first-half goals.

Bosco scored twice within a 72-second span early in the second half, which gave the Hornets a 3-0 lead. Depuy, a freshman, added back-to-back goals midway through the frame, her Division III-leading 21st and 22nd tallies of the season.

Lynchburg owned a 21-0 edge in shots and had all of the game’s 11 corner kicks. Baker finished with 11 saves in goal for Guilford.

The Quakers return home to face another nationally ranked league rival, Virginia Wesleyan College, Saturday (10/8) at 7:00 p.m.
