MIKE BARBER NAMED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE FIRST TEE OF THE TRIAD

GREENSBORO, N.C. – – Former Greensboro City Councilman and Guilford County
Commissioner Mike Barber has been named the President and Chief Executive
Officer of The First Tee of the Triad, it was announced today. Barber will
begin his new job immediately.

“Having someone of Mike Barber’s caliber running The First Tee of the Triad
is a tremendous coup for our organization,” First Tee of the Triad board
president Jeff Howard said. “Mike’s background in the legal profession and
his long-term involvement with the Wyndham Championship make him extremely
qualified to run our organization. He knows the Piedmont Triad region, has
accomplished a great deal in multiple leadership roles, and I am certain he
will accelerate the growth of our chapter, which is great news for children
throughout the Piedmont Triad.”

Barber practiced law in the Triad for nearly two decades while serving on
the Guilford County Board of Commissioners and the Greensboro City Council.
He has chaired and served on numerous Boards and Commissions at the local
and statewide levels. He and his family recently returned from a year-long
sabbatical in Spain.

As a longtime volunteer for the Wyndham Championship PGA TOUR event, Barber
was recently named the General Chairman of the 2012 Wyndham; he will chair
the tournament committee, a group of volunteer tournament leaders that work
in conjunction with tournament staff to present the Piedmont Triad’s PGA
TOUR event. The 73rd annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 13-20,
2012. In addition to his Wyndham Championship experience, Barber was
Chairman of the 1999 Nike Greensboro Open and served on the American Junior
Golf Association Executive Committee.

“I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to grow this
organization whose mission is to teach kids much needed life skills using as
a framework the great game of golf,” Barber said. “It is a privilege to be
tasked with improving the lives of the children of our Piedmont Triad
community. I appreciate the confidence the First Tee of the Triad Board of
Directors has placed in me.”
