Congratulations to Jessica Pone(Southwest Guilford HS) on her commitment to Campbell University

We had some of the info on Jessica Pone back on Monday, but today we have more details on her commitment to Campbell University……(Good job and congratulations to Jessica….)

Southwest Top Players: Jessica “JP” Pone has verbally committed to play at Campbell
University.

Jessica Pone has made her decision to attend Campbell University next season to play
for the Camels. JP averaged 13pts, 8rebs, & 2 steals per game during her Junior
season. She earned PTC 4A All-Conference Honors, HM News-Record Team, and Flow
Athlete of the Week. The Cowgirls won the 4A State Championship last year and JP had
a huge part in their success during the State Play-Offs where she averaged 16.1pts,
7 rebs, & 2 steals and earned the Kay Yow MVP State Championship Award!

Coach’s Comments:

JP is a very versatile, athletic, and explosive player. She can play any position
and is a threat offensively and defensively. She has committed to improving her
skills and I have seen great improvement since her freshman year. She is an
all-around player but more importantly a great kid. She works hard on and off the
court and always has a great attitude. She has an 4.1 overall GPA and a National
Honor Society member. JP is well-deserving of this full basketball scholarship and
worked hard to earn it. She will continue to get better and I believe her best years
are ahead of her.

  1. It is always great to see somebody excelling on the hardwood as well as in the classroom. A true student athlete! Congrats!

  2. From what we know Jessica has always been at Southwest Guilford High School.

Other players committing early may on the way or already in the fold from the program at Thomasville Prep and Coach Delaney Rudd…….SWG will other girls and boys committing as the season progresses, but right now it is a good time to celebrate the occasion for Jessica Pone, on her way to Campbell University.

  3. Hats off also to the coach at Southwest who works hard to make sure her players get opportunities for scholorships.

  4. Yes Coach B works hard to help her players get scholarships and that is why she is coach of the year at SWG. She is building with players that are in their right district and not with players running around all over the place. She is doing it in the public school system.
