  1. Page 21 Dudley 0 4th Page busts game wide open with 2 late TDs. Defense withstands Dudley offense in 1st half.

  2. Dudley is a lot better than their (4-5) record suggests. Page has some offensive issues it needs to work on but it’s easier to find spots to improve on in wins. Page going for a Perfect Season next Friday vs. SE Guilford. GO PIRATES!

  3. Jonathan, what wasn’t working for Page tonight? Did Dudley stack the box and dare Summers to pass? I was wondering when a defense would give that a try. Summers is a great athlete but he can have off nights with his passing. Sounds like it was a great game. So with this win Page clinches the conference, right? Congrats Coach Gillespie and the Page Pirates. The work is not over yet, still have SE Guilford coming up and then the playoff seedings.

  4. Because SEG lost this week has nothing to do with next week. SEG will just be more determined next week. EF over on NWG tonight. I told y’all it was coming. How about my Whirlies!! Win one more and get in the playoffs?? Unbelievable.

  5. NWG score doesn’t surprise me at all. EF hammered them at the line of scrimmage. NWG has no linemen. Baxter and Christie get most of their yards outside using their great speed. Now the NWG WR’s block well on the edge. And Paw is good out on the edge. But they struggle at the LOS and EF is huge. Their linemen can pound on you. EF can’t throw it but they can sure run it.

  6. Page will beat SEG next week like they beat your team and all the others. If your team makes the playoffs and I think they will not, the bus just needs enough gas to get your team to the game, which will be away, and back home because that is as far as they will get. 1st round and out.

  7. wow

East Forsyth only attempted one pass all night (incomplete) but still ran all over Northwest. Thats what you call smashmouth football

  8. dear no surprise

Joe Marine is not dissing the players, he is merely speaking the truth. I’ve seen Grimsley play. The kids have heart but in the playoffs they would be embarrassed. Someone has to tell the truth. It’s brutal, I know, but this team is 2 years away until they are ready for the playoffs. Just like the Page game was, Grimsley in the playoffs will be men against boys.

  9. Well aren’t we overpuffed tonight. Hooorrraaa!! I guess you are taking John’s place tonight as the resident over the top Page fan.

Just a reminder that you guys didn’t exactly hang 70 on Dudley tonight and a mad SEG team could be tougher than a struggling to get above 500 Dudly team. Should be a good game next week.

  10. John,
You think saying that Page will have no problem beating SEG next week is not dissing SEG players? Wow, I’m dying for an interpretation on that one.

By the way I am not an idiot folks, I realize that Grimsley is not ready to win a playoff game this year. I would just be amazed, and proud of the team if they made it to the playoffs with the way they struggled with a young team this year. Everyone knows that Page is the number one team in the Metro this year.. You really don’t have to tear other teams down to make your team bigger but that is exactly what a few of you Page fans do.

  11. Between the cold and my nerves, there was NO WAY I was going to be able to blog tonight. Tonight’s game was BRUTAL to say the least. I KNEW it was going to be a test of the defenses. Dudley’s defense was READY! They played straight up, in your face football tonight. Once again, the score is really no indication of what happened on the field tonight. I see how Dudley has shook those first four games off and came back with a vengeance. It looks as if they’re play-off bound and whatever team(s) that have to play them over the next few weeks (including the first round) will have to be READY!
    .
    .
Ahhhhhhhh, but my Pirates prevailed. I KNEW if they kept their heads, they were going to come out on top. Our defensive guys are not as big but they are quick. This game (for the most part) was a nail biter. I’m glad I got that manicure earlier today!

    One more, Pirates! One more…………….

  12. @Gfan–
    .
    .
I promise you…..I would never, EVER tear ANY of these young men down to build my team up. I do know that…….when the last down is played, when the lights on the field go dim, when the locker room is empty, these young men will take the memories of their high school football years with them and I, as a parent will not do or say anything that would tarnish what they’ve worked so hard (week after week) to achieve. I love a “lil’ friendly ribbing” here and there from the parents and other fans but I’d never make it personal with these young men. I’m proud of Guilford County teams as a whole but I’ve got a soft spot for my Pirates!

  13. Well Gfan I will tell you this, Dudley is alot better team then every other team in the Metro conference other than Page. Do you really think that SEG is that good to be beat Page. I dont think so! NG and Ragsdale only scored 14 points against the page defense and that as high as it gets, every other team scored lower than that. As for the offense 21 points was the lowest and that was tonight against Dudley. Page will win BIG!!!!

  14. One more thing….I’m putting in my vote for Debo for Player of the week tonight. His blocking, sacks, and overall defensive effort did not go unrecognized. Even if he’s not your player of the week, he definitely is mine!!!!!

  15. DONT LET THE SCORE FOOL YOU!!! the dudley- page game was wayyyyyy closer than this score indicates. it was 7-0 with less than 4 minutes left to play in this game. the pirates had one good play in the first half to get the touchdown pass. page front 4 is not big in size so they use blitz to bring tons of pressure and plan man in the secondary. the blitz killed dudley offensive line tonight and the was the deciding factor along with turnovers(3) and stalled drives. dudley was deep in the redzone twice in the first half and came up empty. the dudley defense shut down page’s offense for the majority of the game and were able to get to summers consistently. he was limping around alot but of course he’s is a tough kid and was able to lead his team to the finish line….. the dudley offense could not help out the defense tonight and thats a kudos to the pirates for playing lights out on defense. i was very proud of those panther pups on defense tonight. they played their hearts out.. gotta fix that o line up and we will be ok… cant have any success without the hogheadz up front…. good luck to page in the postseason. it will be a tough road for them but if its their season to go deep then they will..

  16. Got no beef with you UU. Nothing wrong with rooting for your team and being excited for them. I said a few and did not say all. I know kids on the Page team and will probably be at the playoff games to see them play. Believe me I want Page to do well but I’m just saying that SEG should not be discounted next week. That’s all I’m saying so what is the point of piling on Grimsley and SEG except for just not being able to control your inner jerkdome? And as Forrest says that is all I am going to say about that.

  17. i also wanted to see if any of you guys seen brothers James summers #18 QB for page and Chauncey Carter #11 for dudley give each other that big ole hug at midfield.. summers came to console his half brother carter (who was in tears) after the great effort he gave on his senior night. it was a just a great moment to witness and showed that even though they are competitors on the field… they are sill family off the field.. chauncey carter played lockdown defense on orlando hatfield all night and came up with a big interception against his brother james summers…… it was a GREAT MOMENT TO SEE… just curious if anyone else seen it

  18. Congrats to Page on a hard fought win. The game was much closer than the 21-0 score. Dudley missed out on sum oppurtunites in the first half. They had WR open on different plays but the ball was over thrown. Dudley has come along way this season Coach Davis has done a great job with these young men.

As for Page, they have the talent to make a serious run. They will have to fix the secondary in order to beat Mallard Creek, Butler and Richmomd County.

  19. @Gfan–

I know, big guy!! I told ya, I keep seeing Falcons swooping around my back yard. I have a feeling that Southeast is going to go all out for they have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. I’m hoping my Pirates will “steady as she goes” that ship and bring it home for the undefeated season.
    .
    One more Pirates! One more……..

  20. Page beats dudley by 40 points if not for the field conditions (haha). Yes, can we bring this subject up again. Dudley stinks! and so does their neighborhood!

  21. @ Dave—I’m glad you bought that up. What was up with the playing field tonight? It was a bunch of slipping and sliding tonight. I’m glad none of the kids twisted their ankles out there.

  22. @Dave

It’s soooo many things I could say to to your IGNORANT comment.. But I refuse to drop down your level… First of all what does the Dudley neighborhoods have to do with this game??? Im trying not to take that comment as a race thing but for some reason that’s the feeling I get when reading it… Yes the field is terrible but BOTH teams had to play on the same exact field…….. Dudley to the girld under the same conditions as page did today…… Both teams had to try to adjust to the field…Dudley stadium is set to be demolished next week and the field will be new… But to say that Dudley would have lost by 40 Is crazy… Why can’t you just admit they their defensive lined down and hit you in the mouth… It’s ok to admit things… You could even tell the the page team was shocked and surprised at how the panthers were coming after them on defense…. Dudley field isn’t the best… And all the rain this week and a soccer game yesterday only made things worst…… Should have known that complaints about the field were going to be the reason the game was do close…. As soon as someone gives page a compliment you guys have to start complaining…. I personally think a game like this can only help you guys as you prepare for a playoff run… It kinda brings the ayers down to earth that everyone isn’t going to lay down for you guys this season… Good luck to the pirate football team and the fans that are reasonable and not ignorant!!

  23. @Dave

Oh yeah, Btw you might not wanna be so quick to talk about Dudley’s neighborhoods… Considering Dudley and Page shares school lines and some of the kids live in the SAME neighborhoods and across the street from each other…. Some of your STAR players live mighty close to panther lines….

  24. My point: the field smells like a cow pasture and anyone that has been there know this to be the truth….it smells up the neighborhold. The NCHAA knows the dangers in playing on this field. That is why they’re getting a new field. Also, we all know that dudley plays between the “hashes” which always remains dry while most opponents use the sides. It’s definitely a home field advantage but Dudleys days are finished. They will soon be in the “cellar” with Smith.

  25. Seems like two strong defensive teams won the game last night. Page’s defense came to the game for sure. If Page want’s to get to the big game – they need to figure out a better offense against tough defense. Proud of my Panthers but congrats to the Pirates.

  26. Northern Guilford score could have been a lot worse, Class act for Northern to call the dogs at half. 49-0 at half.

  27. Tough night for the NWG team clearly at a size disadvantage. E Forsyth is HUGE coupled with ? NWG turnovers 3 off which were deep in E. Forsyth territory made for long night. Also NWG wasn’t a fan favorite with the officials as the majority of the laundry drop against NWG stalled drives & killed momentum. Classic 1 step forward 2 steps back kind of night.

  28. Dear John, EF, NWG and Ragsdale all have theri strengths and weaknesses. EF is huge and runs the ball well but doesn’t have a passing game. No balance. Ragsdale has balance, size and speed and a defense but is very susceptable to the pass. NWG has speen on the edges, a good qb, and good skill players but struggles at the LOS. No one dissed a kid. Simple reality. Watch some film before you comment.

  29. NWG…talk about not showing up……they got beat like a rented mule. Where are all the supporters at?

  30. I think some of you have assigned comments to me that I have not made. I did not diss any players, I did not say Page would crush SEG next Friday; I think Dudley played a hell of a game, I think Grimsley’s players have tons of heart and pride. My only point of the night was that Grimsley is not playoff material this season. Yes, I am a big Page supporter and as such I root hard for them and I root hard against Grimsley when the two teams play. And yes, I was very critical to the Grimsley students that vandalized cars at Page on the day of the game in September. I won’t back down from that. In two more years Grimsley may well mature into a great team and Page might be the team that’s down.

Best of luck to all teams in the final week of the season. No need to hate on Dudley or their neighborhood. That’s just stupid, and racist, besides. I know many people in my former business dealings who are Dudley alums and they are great people. I’ve been to games at that stadium and the atmosphere is electric; I wish I could have gone last night!

Go Pirates, finish strong and get ready for a tough playoff slate.

  31. Northwest Guilford fan here..we are all still here..and yeah you’re right..NWG played pretty bad last night..but guess what even with the loss we still get a trophy.

  32. The expanded playoff off system is a joke. It’s nothing more than a revenue generator for the state. There is even a clause in the NCHSAA rules this year allowing teams to opt out of the playoffs. They should have created a 5A and been done with it.

  33. The News and Record’s Nelson Kepley caught brothers James Summers and Chauncey Carter together after the Page win over Dudley….Photo on front page of sports(Saturday edition)…….

  34. Its going to be an early Halloween at Page this Friday. It is going to be trick and treat night. SEG’s offense needs to bring a lot of tricks against the Page defense and the Page offense will treat the SEG’s defense to a lot of points of the board.

  35. How much longer does SEG have to get out coached before someone says something? Dudley, you won the game against SEG, but for a fan to say you’re far and above every team in the metro is ridiculous. You have a well coached group of young men who would walk through a wall for Coach Davis. SEG doesn’t have the staff that you do. Last night, they played the worst half of football, they’ve played all year. The Petty kid had a fumble that turned into 6 points for the other team, but they still looked like the better team. They are down 10 at the half. The kids come out and play a strong 3rd quarter. The cut the lead to 3. It’s barely a minute or two into the 4th quarter and the Coach decides to go for it on 4th down close to their own 20. The were down 3 with almost a full quarter of football left to go. Who does that? Yes the QB threw two picks, but he’s a kid. The coaching staff gave the opposition the ball with less than 20 yards to go. Why not punt the ball away? It’s just ridiculous! SEG has the talent to give Page a game, but they will get outcoached every time.

  36. I agree with most of your post HadEnough. It made no sense to go for it with that much time on the clock, at that field position, and at the distance they needed for first down,. One thing you didn’t mention was that the SEG QB along with two picks had a beautiful TD pass that was right in the hands of a receiver and was dropped. He would have had clear sailing into the end zone. I’m not pointing that out as the play that cost them the game but just saying it was not all on the QB last night. Looked like WG had a very good game plan to address Petty last night. It was a team loss and WG played great. They ran right up the gut all night long.

Joe Blowhard thinks that Page is ready to walk away with an undefeated season. I thiink it will be a little harder fought than he expects next week. Go in too cocky and you may have a Saturday morning hangover much like NWG is feeling today.

  37. The game was disappointing! I was there almost every play with my stepdad. Thank God for modern technology. I don’t understand the reasoning for going for it on SEG 4th down on your own 20, but it is what it is.

  38. Anita Tissue? You are not one of those disgruntled parents who took their kid to another school because he couldn’t cut it or got out worked and wasn’t going to start at the position you wanted him to are you?

  39. #2—????–not at all disgruntled….but then I’m not the one that got beat like a rented mule last night.

  40. Andy, didn’t ya’ll report that Dudley was to about to get astro truf or field grass a few years ago with the help of school bond, but some how it was cancel out. But on the other hand, I saw Page fans coming over to Dudley’s side and fellowshipping. I saw Page Band come over to Dudley Band and march inside the school for refreshment & fellowshipping. It’s ashame that GROWN UPS LIKE DAVE, HAVE TO BE CHILDISH, AND PUT DOWN OTHER SCHOOL. THE KIDS & COACHES BEING INTERVIEWED SHOWED BETTER SPORTMANSHIP THAN THIS GUY…SMH !!!

  41. Gfan,

It wasn’t my intent to call a kid out, the QB or the Petty kid. I know the kids are working their buttts off. I was just trying to cut off the comment….the coaches aren’t the ones turning the ball over. To the SEG’s coaching staff’s credit, they play a physical tough style of football. I believe that’s what will be needed to compete with Page. The kids will be ready to play, they just need their Coach and Offensive coordinator to put them in a position to be successful!

  42. There was talk at one time about putting a turf field at Dudley and at Page…..Page decided against it after looking at the overall maintainence needs…..Dudley was supposed to be upgreaded around 2-3 years ago and somehhow the plans got changed and I do believe after the complete studies they decided to change some of the funding arrangements that were due at Dudley…..At one time the Dudley stadium upfit was supposed to very elaborate, but now I think it has been downgraded from elaborate to adequate due to the economic crunch……

Dudley needs some way to post their 3-AA State Championshop Diisplays at the new stadium….Those two Title Boards need to be hanging and they need to be seen in clear view by all at Tarpley Staidum….I wish they would get them up and that you could see them from the highway(H-29 North)…..

  43. You gotta let the coaches do their job…..We have some good ones here in Guilford County and this might be the best overall group of football coaches that we have had at one time in many, many years…..Let these men work and back them up until the season ends and then you can start you own evaluations….Got to let them do their jobs, it don’t come easy and they need your support……

  44. Gfan,

I understand what you are saying about overlooking another team but I can assure you that while there may be Page Fans who are overlooking SEG there are no players and coaches at Page who overlooking SEG, and if you need proof just ask them…Page players and coaches will not be overlooking SEG…Both teams will be bringing it Friday for sure…

  45. Okay, let Anita Tissue have her temporary moment of glory. Yes, she is one of those and the more we react to her the more attention she gets that she obviously doesn’t deserve. I’m embarrassed for her and her kid.

I have a few questions to the NW coaches. Why in the world would you run new plays during a game that is so crucial? All the starters were wearing play call wrist bands and everyone kept looking at them because no one knew what to do. What they have been doing is what got them to this point.

It’s obvious the turnovers and the call backs from Refs that turned a blind eye to EF and the new plays that didn’t work led to low morale and planted that seed out doubt. But let’s rise up guys. Don’t let one game decide your place in the playoffs. You still have an opportunity to lace up those cleats. The fans still believe in you despite what all the haters out there say. You have to ask yourself, what is it that others hate so much about NW. (Maybe jealousy and envy, hm)

  46. I’m going to enjoy watching Northwest play Page in the first round of the playoffs.

    Don’t laugh – could happen.

  47. Let’s all be smart and not crack on the kids….Tnat’s the coaches’ job and they know what they are doing and we need to back off and let them do their jobs….Support the kids and suppprt your coaches…..
