Saturday will be a ‘State-ment’ game as North Carolina looks to beat N.C. State for the first time in 5 years and they have to do it in Raleigh

The North Carolina Tar Heels are coming to Raleigh looking for a win on Saturday and that is something that hasn’t happened in five years, as the N.C. State Wolfpack has had the Heels’ number and is that number up??? UNC is calling this one a real ‘State-ment’ game and North Carolina’s coach Everett Withers is planning on playing this one to the vest…..

from www.wralsportsfan.com:

UNC’s T.J. Thorpe said he expects the N.C. State crowd to come ready with taunts about UNC’s recent NCAA troubles. And on Monday morning, Thorpe’s ex-girlfriend — an ex-Wolfpack cheerleader — texted him about the game to say some of her classmates were already hurling insults at Thorpe and his teammates.

N.C. State coach Tom O’Brien:
“There’s games throughout the year that you can just tell,” O’Brien said. “You look at all the guys here today; this is not just a normal game.”

UNC coach Everett Withers:
“A rivalry game in state is huge for everyone in the state,” interim coach Everett Withers said Monday. “It’s huge for our players, especially for our seniors, to get this game.”
