College Swimming Results – Guilford Falls in Dual-Meet Action

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Bridgewater College swept an Old Dominion Athletic Conference women’s swimming meet with Guilford College and host Greensboro College Saturday in the Royce Reynolds Pool. The Eagles downed Greensboro, 68-27, and Guilford, 84-11. Greensboro defeated Guilford, 60-32. The event marked the first time Guilford has faced its crosstown rival in an ODAC contest as the Pride joined the league as an affiliate in women’s swimming this year.

Bridgewater won nine of 11 events, including both relays. The Eagles’ Annalee Gallagher captured both the 50-yard (26.23) and 100-yard freestyle (59:18) races and anchored Bridgewater’s winning 200 freestyle relay that hit the wall in 1:53.70. Jeni Zeiler won the 200 freestyle (2:14.00) and the 100 breaststroke (1:15.98) and swam a leg on the the Eagles’ 200 medley relay that won in 2:05.44. Shannon Myers was also on that team and won individual events in the 100 butterfly (1:05.62) and the 100 backstroke (1:05.95).

Greensboro’s Anna Phillips won the 1000 freestyle (11:31.00) and the 200 individual medley (2:17.76).

Kelcey Johnson turned in Guilford’s best individual finish when she took third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:27.83. The Quakers’ 200 freestyle relay also placed third in 2:17.66. Naomi Lewis swam fourth-place times in the 200 individual medley (3:13.23) and the 500 freestyle (7:51.41).

The Quakers (0-2, 0-2 ODAC) return to competition next Saturday (11/12) at league-rival Sweet Briar College.
