Northeast Guilford Rams(23-5) at Western Guilford tonight and looking back at scrimmage with Chapel Hill High from last week

Northeast Guilford Rams versus Chapel Hill High School from last week at NEG and the Rams were (23-5) last season and with all but two starters back from that squad, they look to improve upon that mark this year…..

from the Chapel Hill News on their scrimmage with Chapel Hill High……

Playing a series of seven eight-minute periods with a running clock (and no foul shots except in the final 30 seconds,) Northeast got excellent play from veterans Bryce Benjamin and Trevone Williamson.

The Rams used their substantial speed on defense to create multiple turnovers in the early going, and they hit five 3-pointers to lead 55-30 after five periods.

It was a different story after a break to let the junior varsities scrimmage for two periods. For the last two periods of the varsity scrimmage, Morgan quit substituting so freely.

Even with four regulars missing because of injuries, the Tigers began to look more like the team that went 22-5 and reached last year’s state semifinals in the post-season. Chapel Hill held Northeast scoreless for more than eight minutes and outscored the Rams 12-0 in one stretch. The Tigers scored 1.2 points per possession over the last 16 minutes of running clock, while holding Northeast to 0.4.
