Split for Ragsdale Tigers vs. Southeast Guilford Falcons from Tuesday:Tiger boys claim victory and girls fall to SEG(3-0)

GIRLS:

SE Guilford 46 Ragsdale 41

After falling behind 28 – 9 at the half, Ragsdale came out a different team
in the second half and got to within 3 points with less than a minute to go,
but could not cut it closer than that as SE hit 2 of 6 foul shots down the
stretch and shut Ragsdale out over the final minute to record the 46 – 41
win.

The Falcons were led by 6′ junior Kenya Hailey who had 19 points, 14 of them
coming in the first half. Sophomore Kara Shutt was also in double figures
with 14 points.

Ragsdale was led by junior Ally Darnell who hit three second half treys and
recorded 14 points.

SE shot 35 foul shots in the game but only made 15 of them. Ragsdale was 6
of 14 from the charity stripe.

The Falcons move to 3 – 0 on the season and are at home to face Southern
Guilford on Friday night. Ragsdale drops their season opener and will host
Grimsley tomorrow night (Wednesday).

BOYS:

Ragsdale opened the 2011 – 2012 season with a home win against SE Guilford
by a 59 – 57 score. The Tigers trailed by four points early in the second
quarter at 21 – 17, but went on a 17 – 7 run to close out the quarter to
take a 34 – 28 lead into the halftime break. They never trailed again
although their biggest lead in the second half was only 7 points. With just
over 2 minutes left in the game, Ragsdale was up 56 – 49, but the Falcons
got 5 points from Matt Wright and a long range three from S. Phifer while
Ragsdale was going 3 of 5 from the line. A Wright basket with 13.9 seconds
left cut the lead to two, and SE got one more chance but missed two shots in
the final 10 seconds as Ragsdale held on for the 59 – 57 win.

Ragsdale was led by Sophomore Daniel Kanakanui who had 15 points and Bryan
Rouse who chipped in with 12. The Falcons were led by Matt Wright with 21
points and Phifer with 16. SE Guilford defeated East Forsyth Monday night
by a 79 – 76 score and are home Friday against Southern Guilford. Ragsdale
will be at home Wednesday night to face the Whirlies from Grimsley in their
second game of the season.

  1. To ragsdale fan: Not to argue, but think SEG had 46 points – Final was 46 – 41.
