High School Football Tonight with Northern Guilford vs. Crest at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill

3-AA State Championship Game tonight with a 7:30pm kickoff in Chapel Hill, with the Northern Guilford Nighthawks((13-1) facing the Crest Chargers(12-3)….

Radio pre-game at 6:45pm on AM950 and you can also catch the game at www.wpetam950.com, plus you can listen on your phone in the stadium….Radio rolling again tonight and we also will keep the game updated here at the site….

Rematch last year’s Title Game on Saturday night at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh….Northern won it 21-20 in 2010 and tonight should be a war, with the Chargers backfield featuring RB Rhaheim Ledbetter and FB Jonathan Bullard…..Ledbetter ran for 268 yards last week in the win by Crest over Charlotte Catholic…..Crest has Bullard lined up at fullback and Bullard checks in at 6’4/255 and he would be classified as a ‘bull’ of a back and Ledbetter likes to run wild, if he can get outside on you….Both Ledbetter and Bullard go both ways, with Ledbetter at DB on defense and Bullard stands tall at defensive end…..Michael Gullate II, a sophomore runs the Chargers’ offense from the quarterback spot and his favorite receiver is usually Demonte Wilson…..Both Ledbetter and Bullard are considered High DI prospects….Jordan Brooks has been one of the top linemen for Crest this season….

We know a lot about the Northern Guilford offense with T.J. Logan and his 2,000-plus yards on the ground this season and QB Daniel Downing has led the Nighthawk’s no-nonsense offense and he has been a team leader with this squad for the past three seasons……

Not a huge Northern Guilford defense, but they get to the ball quickly….The top tacklers for NG include, sophomore DB Austin Coltrane, the team leader with 7.3 tackles per game…..DE John McBeth is #2 on the team with 7.2 tackles per game…LB T.J. Ruff checks in with 7.1 stops per contest and DE Tre Purcell locks it down with 5.6 tackles per game for Northern…..LB Mark Mitchell is another NG leader on defense…

This could become a real running battle this evening with T.J Logan for Northern and Rhaheim Ledbetter from Crest going at it…..Better have your shoes tied on tight if you are on defense, cause you could be real busy tonight….You know you are going to have to make tackles and a key is to keep Crest out of the end zone if you are a Nighthawk and watch out for that big bruising fullback, in Bullard…..

If Crest decides to go to the air, Scooter Mooney leads the Nighthawks with 6 interceptions on the year….Northern averaging 39.1 points a game on the season, with 265.2 yards rushing per contest and 71.5 yards passing per game….WR Mooney has just 11 receptions on the season, but 8 of the 11 have gone for TD’s….QB Daniel Downing is also the Nighthawk punter, averaging 40.62 yards per punt this season…..Logan with 236 points scored, on 38 TD’s and 8 two-point conversion runs is tops in NG scoring…..

Ought to be an excellent game in the re-match of the 2010 battle as the Nighthawks and Chargers resume their war tonight at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill……
