Greensboro Roller Derby’s Championship Bout: Snow Mercy!

It’s the event Triad roller derby fans have been waiting for all year long: Greensboro Roller Derby’s championship bout! “SNOW MERCY” will take place at the Greensboro Sportsplex on 16th St. on Saturday, December 17. Doors open at 5:00. The first whistle blows at 6:00.

“SNOW MERCY” is the 2011 season’s last bout, between two of Greensboro Roller Derby’s home teams, the Mad Dollies and the Battleground Betties. These two teams have had the highest cumulative scores of the season. The winner of this season-closing bout will take home the coveted Lockard Leg Lamp, named for the league’s founder, Aubrey “MollyFlogger” Lockard. Bring your sneakers and take part in a Zumba exhibition at halftime! Audience participation is encouraged.

“SNOW MERCY” is a family-friendly event. Tickets will be available at the door. To avoid the rush and skip the line, fans are advised to take advantage of advance ticket sales online at ticketderby.com or through our website, greensbororollerderby.com. Adult tickets are $10. Tickets for college students with a valid student ID are $8. Children 12 and under get in free. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit the Triad Health Project.

Greensboro Roller Derby was founded in February 2010. Since the league’s debut bout in October of 2010, Greensboro Roller Derby has spent the last year competing both locally and regionally. Join us next season for more hard-hitting action! The league will return to the track in February.

  1. These things are a hoot! Ben and I have attended two and have had a great time. The last one at Barber Park was between these two teams and there had to be 300 – 400 fans! Ah, ended in a controversey fitting for Pro Wrasslin. Rematch. May have to go!

I hope the city doesnt figure out a way to screw this up!
