Elon’s Millington Named to All-State Men¹s Soccer Team

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Elon senior Nick Millington was selected as one of 12 student-athletes to the 2011 North Carolina All-State University Division Men’s Soccer team. The team consists of student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities and is voted on by members of the NC Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA).

A second-team All-Southern Conference honoree, Millington served as co-caption of Elon’s 2011 Southern Conference Tournament championship team. The midfielder helped sixth-seeded Elon knock off the top three seeded teams in the league tournament, defeating top-seeded UNCG in the championship game for Elon’s first-ever SoCon tourney crown. Millington scored a goal and added two assists during the championship season and was honored as the SoCon Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

Founded in 2002, the NSCCSIA is composed of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
