Greensboro College Women’s Basketball Pulls Away From Peace for 71-56 Victory

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — The Pride women’s basketball team used a second half run to pull away from a pesky Peace team on Wednesday for a 71-56 road win. Greensboro was playing its first game since December 10 and needed a half of play to knock off the rust.
The Pride jumped out to an early 16-4 lead before the Pacers rallied to within 16-13 at the 12:51 mark. Greensboro pushed the lead back to seven on a couple of occassions but allowed Peace narrow the margin to 29-26 at the break.

The key run began in the early minutes of the second half. Leading 31-30 less then two minutes into the new frame, The Pride kicked off a 14-0 spurt to extend the advantage to 45-30. The lead would grow to as big as 17 with Greensboro fighting hard to protect the double digit margin down the stretch.

Bianca Richburg tallied a game high 20 points to go along with ten rebounds while Danielle Duncan also added a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Also contributing solid games were Jena Cabe with 14 points and Andrienne Terrell with seven assists.

As a team, The Pride shot 44.3% from the field, including a 15-29 second half performance. Greensboro finished the night 4-12 from three. The Pacers, meanwhile, shot 34.5% for the game and went 5-14 from beyond the arc. The Pride held a 48-30 advantage on the boards with 21 coming on the offensive end.

Greensboro improves to 6-1 overall on the season and stays perfect in the USA South at 3-0. The Pride will be back at home on Saturday against North Carolina Wesleyan and will host Meredith on Sunday. Both game times are scheduled for 2 p.m.
