from Dave Goren and the crew, down at the Broadcasters and Sportwriters Hall of Fame in Salisbury, N.C. and for Duke’s Bob Harris, the Albermarle native, the word today must be, “How Sweet It Is”…That’s Bob’s favorite catchphrase and we congratulate Bob on a great job and he is the NC Broadcaster of the Year and not the North Carolina Broadcaster of the Year….The ‘North Carolina’ Broadcaster of the Year would have been Woody Durham or Jones Angell right??

Read on about Bob and let’s get a few comments rolling for Bob Harris, a great announcer and even a better person……

from www.wralsportsfan.com:

Durham, N.C. — Duke play-by-play announcer Bob Harris has been named the 2011 North Carolina Sportscaster of the Year, announced on Monday by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. Harris also received the state honor in 1988 and 1991.

A native of Albermarle, N.C., Harris has served as the play-by-play voice of the Blue Devils since 1976. On October 15, 2011, he called his 400th consecutive football game as Duke hosted Florida State at Wallace Wade Stadium. In addition, Harris has broadcast nearly 1,200 basketball games including all four of Duke’s national championship wins.

  1. Bob Harris ia a true-blue light in a sea of darkness. As a faithful listener since the beginning I hope he helms the Duke play by play for thirty years and so many more ACC and national championships to come.
