High School Basketball for tonight on 1/20/12

Dudley at Smith….We will have this game for you on AM950 radio with a pre-game/join the girls game at around 6:45pm and then all the action from the boys and other scores for you, as they become available on AM950 radio and at www.wpetam950.com….

Dudley and Smith is the key game with the Smith boys taking game one over at Dudley and the Panthers are (4-2) in the conference and the Smith boys are (4-2) in the conference….Both teams at (4-2) and both squads have a candidate for Metro 4-A Player of the Year on their team, in Sam Hunt at Dudley and Tracy Gathings at Smith….Ought to be a real good game tonight and that first meeting between the two, had many lead changes and it went right down to the wire with Smith winning, 50-46, at Dudley back on December 9…The girls game should be an all-out war too and we know that the Panthers like to run and can the Smith girls keep up…Smith needs Jo Jo Phillips out there and it would be fun to see the Jo and Mo Show on the go with Jo Jo Neal-Phillips and Moriah ‘Mo’ Davis from Dudley going at it out front……Jo Jo did not play in game one at Dudley and the Panthers missed her….Robinson, Greer and Lynn will also have to step up and step out for Smith tonight and the Rouse sisters will be ready to run along with Ms. Maize….Lauren Jackson, Essence Abraham and Kennedy Currie also play key roles for the Dudley Panthers……Dudley girls(5-1/Metro) took game one 55-34, over at Dudley….

Also this evening we have:
Western Guilford at Page….Page boys at (15-2) and ranked third in the state, while the WG girls defeated Page at WG(Dec. 9) and Lady Pirates are (4-2) Metro, just one game back of Dudley(5-1)….

Southeast Guilford at Grimsley…SEG boys won the game down at Grimsley and SEG stands at (3-3) Metro and the Whirlie boys roll at (2-4) Metro…..SEG girls have lost back-to-back conference games with losses last week at home vs. WG and on the road at Page….

Eastern Alamance at Northern Guilford….NG boys lost to EA in round one and one of the EA Eagles lit up the Nighthawks for 35 points, but it turns out that the since that game, the Nighthawks have not lost in the conference and now stand at (6-1), while EA sits at (5-2)….Not sure, but heard this was the WFMY NEWS 2 ‘Nothing But Net’ Game of the Week…

Northeast Guilford at Southern Guilford….Should see a split here with NEG boys winning and the SG girls claiming the victory…NEG girls knocked off North Forsyth last Friday night for their first win in two years and NF beat NEG boys, so NEG need the bounce-back….

Still working on these, so I didn’t forget anybody, just need to get the seed ready to read…..

Other key area contests…
WS Carver at High Point Andrews…Key PAC 6 2-A game for both HPA teams..Got to win them all from here on…

East Forsyth vs. High Point Central at Southwest Guilford…J.D. Bryant and his Bison say they are ready to play and make hay in the 4-A conference race with EF and others in the Piedmont Triad 4-A league…J.D says wait and see, HPC is on the move in the conference, at least that is what he told HPE(High Point Enterprise) this week….Girls find HPC on the move too behind Jones and Grier….

Glenn at Northwest Guilford…NWG girls have climbed all the way back to (8-8) overall with Miss Harper, Munson, Burrell and others leading the charge…Big charge needed from Cody Hylton and his Vikings tonight…..

Plus we have…..
Greensboro Day School at Calvary Baptist…Bengals need to take care of business to set up next Tuesday’s HPCA games for boys and girls….

Rabun Gap at High Point Christian…Big one tonight and a big one coming up next Tuesday for HPCA(20-0) at GDS…

Caldwell Academy at Carolina Friends in Durham….Eagles looked for real this past Tuesday at home vs. AHA…

Forsyth Country Day at Wesleyan…WES did not look good this past Monday at the MLK Day Games and Coach Keith Gatlin was not happy with his team and that is an understatement…Hopefully WES will be ready to play their best tonight and FCD features Rusty Larue’s son Riley Larue and he does not play a lot, but still young….

Westchester at Burlington Christian…BCA is on their way and don’t be surprised if they beat WCD……

North Stokes at Bishop McGuinness….Bishop girls must stay focused if they want to win their fifth or sixth straight 1-A Title…Coach Robinson’s team has won so many, I’ve lost count……
