Ron Coryell has Caldwell Academy JV Eagles playing like Don Coryell teams in the 80’s:Caldwell ‘flying high’ in do-or-die race for first

Not sure if our local Ron Coryell is related to Don Coryell(former head coach of the San Diego Chargers), but Ron has his team playing like Don did, winning that is and the Eagles have taken off, behind the strong scoring and rebounding of 6’6 sophomore Marshall Macheledt…..(GSOSports.com/GSPN)

Caldwell Academy JV team under new Coach Ron Coryell (previously with Wesleyan) has
taken team so far to 9-3 with 4 more conference games to go. Lost to HPCA by 2 but
then won in the second game/match/contest and lost to GDS JVA team by 11.

Six sophomores on the team, including 6’6 center Marshall Macheledt, with 21.5
points average per game and 14 rebound average. Macheledt DNP in one loss to
Village Christian due to injury. Career high of 39 points against Carolina Friends
and highest rebound record of 21 against HPCA.

Great starting sophomore team with strong freshman back ups and Caldwell looks to
finish first in 2A JV standings by end of next week.

  1. Ah! Someone besides me has their radar on the Macheledt kid, I’ve been watching him grow for years now, in basketball not just height. A 6’6 fifteen year old who’s been fundamentally sound for a while, keeps his head in the game – he’s the one to watch.

  2. As someone who has coached Marshall, I am impressed by his effort and his lack of fear of any other player. He has things to work on but the way he embraces learning and strength and conditioning, he has a tremendous upside

  3. Marshall has a great work ethic and has come a long way in a short amount of time. He’s very coachable and plays hard..he should be playing varsity @ Caldwell if he’s putting up those kinds of numbers on jv. Keep growing young man..your futere is very bright!!!!!
