It was Senior Night here at Southwest so emotions were riding high as the Cowboys
played hosts to the Mustangs of Parkland. Those same emotions got the best of the
Cowboys as Parkland seemed to have the momentum in the first frame despite being
undersized. It wasn’t until the 1:20 mark that the Cowboys regained the lead at
15-14. SW even scored the next 4 points until a Mustang basket just before the horn
ended the frame at 19-16 in favor of the Cowboys. The second quarter started off as
a back and forth contest of bad defense. Parkland tied the game at 25 with 3:30 to
go in the half and then finally the defense started to wake up for the Cowboys.
Deflections and steals lead to points as the Cowboys ran away on a 21-5 run to go
into the break up 46-30. The second half opened with a beautiful alley-oop slam by
senior Braxton Daye from senior Jordan Hanner for the Cowboys as they cruised in the
second half to an emotional 94-61 victory. Seniors Ray Bridges, Herbie Bridges,
Jordan Hanner, Braxton Daye, Anton Morgan, and Brandon Clyburn closed their regular
season here at the Ranch in style with a solid performance by all of them. Parkland
was lead by Antoine Seemion (13), and Jacob Thomas (12). Southwest placed 6 players
in double figures. Jordan Hanner (19), Anton Morgan (14), Brandon Clyburn (12), KJ
Langley (11), Herbie Bridges (10), Braxton Daye (10).
