Green Hope 82
Southern Alamance 47
from the Burlington Times-News at www.thetimesnews.com:
At Cary, senior Kristen Gaffney scored a game-high 43 points and Ashley Williams added 21 to lead second-seeded Green Hope past visiting Southern Alamance 82-47 in a second-round game.
Hollie Boggs hit four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points to lead the No. 7-seeded Patriots.
Shaylen Burnett added 13 points for Southern Alamance (20-8). Green Hope improved to 27-2.
If NE plays like they did tonight they will be in the playoffs a long time.
West Forsyth 54 Dudley 39 is the real score
Score above is incorrect for the Chapel Hill game, although it is correct that Webb won. Hicks had 4 fouls in third quarter. Coach Williams attended. Game was within one or two points until last 4 mins.
I see that in the girls bracket that Page lost to Mount Tabor 63-60.
Too bad, I was hoping Page would move on. Mount Tabor has a solid team but they are
even more solid when most of the calls go their way. I guess that is part of the advantage of
being a #1 seed. Not for sure if that was the case for Page but it was in the SEG game. I looked for
the SA score but could not find it. I hope they won, if they did they are the Metro’s only hope. I’m really
surprised that more of our teams did not advance farther, we have a very tough conference. Looking forward
to next year, its been fun.
parity does not necessarily mean good. the metro 4a girls had a lot of paritiy, which made it a tough conference, but neither dudley or page were that much better than southern alamance and southeast; and dont forget that wg beat page.
all in all, it was a great year of ball, and cant wait till next year to see the local teams compete again…
Congratulations to the Northern Nighthawk Mens Varsity team!!
They are the regular season champion.
They are the conference tournament champion.
They were on a 17 game winning streak which ended last night.
Coach Ryan Freeman is the conference coach of the year for the 2nd time in 3 years as coach (and he restored credibility to the program).
Congratulations to seniors Chandler, Downing, Markley, McBeth and Mullikinn!!
give it a rest. if getting blown out by northeast gives your program credibility, that’s pretty weak!! We and NG arre in a weak conference, and the game last night proves it. Weren’t 4 of the players from last night dressed out for the championship run in 2009?
well i guess getting beat by a team 4 times in one season says it all for you eastern!
Did Southern Guilford girls win?
Green Hope 82
Southern Alamance 47……See details above at the bottom of post…..
I GUESS A WIN IS A WIN EVEN IF THE REFS HAD TO DO IT FOR YOU YOU NEVER WOULD HAVE WON IF NOT FOR THAT ,TAXES COME AT A GOOD TIME DON’T THEY?
