‘Between the Lines’ with High School Baseball Tonight

Northeast Guilford at Eastern Guilford 7pm….Big game moved from Friday to this evening, to try and defeat the rain, that may be headed our way on Friday afternoon and these two teams are Top-Rivals in almost all sports and baseball is no different, with NEG and EG both coming in at (1-0)…Could be any of a number of NEG pitchers and EG may have an Adam Gunn and they will count on John Robertson, Hayden Holleman, Tyler Wolf, Tyler Hunt, Ryan Hackett, Bobby Hedrick and others and EG has a host of seniors that have been together for a long time, just like NEG and their crew that we have mentioned here previously….Davis, McCanns, Colon, Millaway, Brown, and others….Younger Rams like Jacob Watkins, Austin Peoples and Calin Cannady are stepping up too….This ought to be a good one tonight at Eastern and the weather looks real nice this morning….

Trinity at Southwest Guilford….Does Matt Orth get some work today and do we hear from the Cowboys like Matt Dale, Sean Geoghean and is Kyle Miller still around? Many are picking SWG to challenge in the Piedmont Triad 4-A and their pitching will be their strength….

Ragsdale at Central Davidson….Ragsdale used Matt Horkey back on Tuesday and they have some other young guns that they are counting on and we may start to see more of them today….We heard about some of the other veterans like Mitch Carstens, Brandon Walker and others from game one, the 5-4 win over Wheatmore….

Caldwell Academy at Carolina Friends….Mancuso is the one name we know from Caldwell and I know that there are others that we will soon be learnig….

Westchester vs. Vandalia….Vandalia has been very strong in recent years and Westchester had a nice run going back when they had DJ Ruff and that group…

*****Wesleyan at Glenn*****[MoneyBall Game of the Night]….As the skipper used to say, “Roll Out the Barrels” this is the ‘Game of the Day’….Could be the ‘Game of the Month’ too, based on what these two teams are supposed to be doing this year…..Glenn among tops in the state with all their returning talent and Wesleyan is always an NCISAA top-contender…John Olzcak(WES), amongst the top high school players in the state at any level…..This will be good one and one would suppose that the scouts will out in full force at this game…….Lots of top-notch talent all over the place, as they gather in Kernersville today….I will be at the Northeast Guilford-Eastern Guilford game tonight, with a chance to see two Guilford County teams go at it….

  1. Northeast Guilford-Eastern Guilford game..
*Tyler Mericka will start and Josiel Colon cominig in afterwards if needed.. Colon is looking very sharp( a lot of strikeouts and groundouts)

  2. Northeast has a lot of arms that they can use and I also heard they have a game this Saturday in Hickory vs. South Point and that will be a re-match of last year’s 3-A Championship won by the Raiders….

On another baseball note, does anyone know who won the Northwest Guilford-Graham game yesterday? Checked out MaxPreps, Burlington Times-News, N&R and nothing yet….Anybody got that one for us?????

  3. Also when does Noah Pearl go for Glenn??? He is another one of the top names in the state……

  4. I have coveed Glenn for their first two games and Pearl has only been used as a closer. He has closed out each of the first two games this year.

  5. On the NWG in regards to yesterday’s game with Graham we found this out for you…..

NW/Graham postponed until today at 630 courtesy highschoolsports.net……Our folks looked into for us and thanks…..

In the Glenn-WES game today, also keep an eye on Weston Wilson from WES. That kid can play……

  6. Wesleyan is loaded with talent as is Glenn. Based upon the last two games, not sure how much pitching Glenn has left for tonight as their two starters have gone into the 5th and 4th innings (both on pitch counts), and they have used two other pitchers in relief (Pearl being one, who pitched two innings last night). They also play another game on Saturday.

  7. Ragsdale 7
    Central Davidson 1
Avery Hodges gets his first varsity win going into the 6th giving up one run. Tim Ambrose finished the 6th and Keenan Lynn closed the 7th. Mitch Carstens hit a 2 run HR in the first.

  8. Southern Guilford:10 Reidsville:0 WP: Zack Canada. He was 1 out away from a no hitter which he lost on the last batter. Camden Ball, Zack Canada with multiple hits. Evan Edwards, Jake Lamb, Dwayne Ford all recorded hits as well.

  9. Almost certain Miller is a senior at SW this year. Also SW looks like they are going to be a contender this year for the PT4A.
