Caldwell Academy at Forsyth Country Day 3:30pm
North Raleigh Christian at Greensboro Day School 4pm…Zac Schner could be ready to have a big year for GDS…
Cary Academy at Wesleyan 5pm….Looks like WES will be very tough after the victory yesterday over Glenn….Home games still at Ed Price Field?
Smith at Lexington 5pm….Lefty Kahlen Pratt is one of the Golden Eagles’ leaders..
Southern Guilford at High Point Central 5pm….You have to wonder if HP Central hasn’t been saving Kendrick Davis for a day like this and Mike Feeney is rested and we’ll see Southern coming off of a big win over Reidsville, back on Thursday…
Northern Guilford at Northwest Guilford 6pm….Haack and Swim both pitched yesterday for NWG, but Swim in relief only and maybe Bellenkes today for NWG and Coltrane for NG and I have been hearing good things about a Morgan kid from Northern…Mas, Arendas and others also ready…Victor Dilla hit the ball well on Thursday for NWG….
High Point Andrews at Farmville Central 6pm….Looks like Coach Randy ‘Nat’ Norris may be traveling back to some of his old stomping grounds…
Page at Western Guilford 7pm….Metro Conference opener for both teams and third game this week for WG and second for Page….Thinking Nic Schofield for Page and maybe Nin Marrero or Brandon Ahrens for WG….”CONFERENCE TIME”…
Grimsley at Southeast Guilford 7pm…SEG has plenty of arms available and that includes the five that threw back on Tuesday, with the exception of Dallas Newton and you’ve got Bain, Jacobelli, Sweet, Greene and possibly Callahan, if you need them…(Not sure if Justin Reece would pitch, but he and Blake Butler, Brent Frazier, Ryne Stanley and others up there for Falcons.) Grimsley in a BIG Metro Conference game with the Falcons and we might see Ryan Stoneman or Seth O’Fallon or somebody else out there and Seth came up with some big hits for Grimsley vs. Eastern Guilford back on Tuesday, as did former Falcon Garrison Stafford, who is going home to face his old foes tonight and I believe Garrison will get the start at first base for the Whirlies…Kory Shumate, Cole Leonard, Kyle Smith and Jake Simpson will also contribute…Kyle Smith is another Whirlie that can pitch….****I have written so much about this game that I need to be there tonight, weather permitting….

+++++Also in a real Alamance County battle, it will be the Burlington Williams Bulldogs at the Southern Alamance Patriots…..Plus in the Alamance Tournament, Westchester Country Day meets Wake Christian Acadmey at 7pm…..+++++

Zac Schner is out for the seasson. Had shoulder surgery. He may be back late summer.

  • Andy Durham said,

Hate to hear that kind of bad news, but thanks for the update…We wish him well on his recovery and in the future.

  • DiamondHawk said,

NG pitcher Hunter Morgan (Soph) is a very solid pitcher. Plays out of NCBA Golden Spikes and is a good kid. Both NG squads have several Golden Spikes players in the Soph and Fresh classes that will help the team in the next few years.

  • Andy Durham said,

Are Eric Chilton, Van Denton or Lanie Pope out there tuned in somewhere today??? We need a weatherman or weatherwoman to tell us if we will rain or baseball games today….It doesn’t look like the two will be able to mix….Something is going to give and one or the other(Rain or Baseball) is going to come out on top tonight….Have any games been postponed yet?

If anyone hears anything, please pass that info along to us…..Eric, Van, Lanie, Austin Caviness, Leigh Brock, Ed Matthews, Charles Ewing, Emily Bird, Randy Jackson, Lee Kinard, Barbra Walters….Anybody got the inside/scoop on this storm front???

  • Pirate said,

Who on Northerns team plays for the Golden Spikes. Who plays on GBC and who plays for Hitting Zone. Would love to see their rosters for the summer.

  • Nighthawk said,

A parent told me the roster for the 16u Hitting Zone and they seem to be in good shape for the summer. Most of their players are form Forsyth, Davie, Guilford and Danville Va. I wish I could remember all the names.

  • Andy Durham said,

On that ‘Weather Front’, you know if we bring in Barbra Walters/Waters, she is going to be calling for Wah, Wah…..

  • DiamondHawk said,

Northern/Northwest JV game has been cancelled. Not heard anything about Varisty

  • DiamondHawk said,

I’m not sure about the other travel teams but NG players on Golden Spikes (currently)
Hunter Morgan, Alex Lozada, Charlie Burguieres, Kevin Bell and Grayson Fields
NW Players are Jesse Juday and Cole Aker. Cole’s dad Matt Aker coach of Greensboro College is coaching Spikes 15U team.

    Andy,
Just rode by the field at SEG and looks like they are set up and ready to play. Looks threatening but not raining as of right now. Stop by and chat if you make it out tonight.

  • Nighthawk said,

Tripp Dunn, D.C . Arendas and Jennin gs Woods are playing for The Hitting Zone Jennings is on the 16u and Tripp and D.C are on the 17u, This is what I was told by some parents. The 16u is loaded with pitching. Most live in Forsyth and Davie County.

  • ReplytoNighthawk said,

Jennings is playing for the jv squad. Matt Kaplan is playing for the hitting zone. With Kaplan, Mas, and you’d talent with Morgan, Coltane, and possibly Woods, the staff is looking good. Go check them out when you get a chance

  • nighthawk said,

I will talk to the Hitting Zone coach today and see if he will list his players on this website. I do know that they play in the 16u wWorld Wood Bat World Series in Atlanta nd also go to Fort Myers to play in 16u championship. I followed them last year very closely along with the other showcase teams as well. The Zone played 43 games in the summer and 21 in the fall. That is 64 game. Maybe we can get GBC and NCBA to put their rosters on here as well. The kids that play showcase are the ones getting the looks. I think Austin Coltrane plays for the Dirtbags..
