College Men’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 18, Cazenovia 3

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Chase Clausen (Portland, Ore./Lake Oswego) scored a career-high four goals and an assist in Guilford College’s 18-3 lacrosse win over visiting Cazenovia College Wednesday. Chris Ashcraft (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) added three goals and two assists in the Quakers’ (4-1) most prolific outing since a 23-4 win over Shenandoah University in 2004.

Ashcraft and Greg Nash (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) both had two goals and an assist during Guilford’s 6-0 run to start the game. The Wildcats (1-1) scored twice in the second quarter to make it a 7-2 game at halftime.

The Quakers put the hammer down in the second half, outscoring their guests, 6-0, in the third quarter. Guilford scored nine unanswered tallies in the second half before Cazenovia’s Taylor Hastrich (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) scored a man-up goal midway through the fourth quarter.

Guilford owned a commanding 54-25 edge in shots and had nine different students dent the twine. Nash, the Quakers’ leading scorer, added three goals and an assist. Taylor Teodosio (Ellicott City, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) had two goals and one helper and Henry Farley contributed a goal and two assists. Thomas Deane (St. Louis, Mo./Ladue) registered 11 of Guilford’s 14 saves in three-plus quarters and picked up a game-high five ground balls. Freshman Nick Huckins (Woodland, Texas/The Woodlands) also had five pickups.

Cazenovia’s T.J. Shaw (Tully, N.Y./Tully) finished with a goal and shared game-high honors with five ground balls. Goaltender Pat Boyle (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) made 11 saves in goal and picked up four ground balls.

The Quakers are back in action Saturday against The Catholic University of America Saturday (3/10) at 1:00 p.m.
