The Panthers from Upper St. Clair (Pittsburgh, PA) rolled into Jamestown on
Wednesday night on their “Spring Break Road Trip) and handed the Ragsdale
Tigers a lopsided defeat. USC struck for two runs in the second inning on a
Jack Elliott two run homer, tacked on four more in the fourth and added
another four in the sixth, highlighted by Elliott belting a three run blast.

Ragsdale struggled at the plate as the Panthers’ Mike Wilcox was in command
on the hill. Wilcox went six innings, allowing three hits and one run as he
needed only 72 pitches in his six innings of work. With Ragsdale facing the
end of the game by virtue of the ten run rule in the bottom of the sixth,
senior Kyle Morrison ruined Wilcox’s shutout attempt with a long home run to
left center that cleared the 350′ sign with plenty to spare. It was
Morrison’s third home run of the season.

Ragsdale used five different pitchers on the evening with Avery Hodges
getting the start and going three innings allowing three runs to suffer the
loss.

Jack Elliott led the Panthers at the plate as the 6′ 3”, 220 lb senior went
3 for 4 with two home runs and 5 RBI’s. USC will continue their Spring Tour
facing another team from the Pittsburgh area today at noon at Reynolds in
Winston-Salem, then facing Reynolds on Friday night before wrapping up their
trip with a game against Mount Tabor on Saturday.

Ragsdale falls to 7 – 4 and will return to PTC action on Friday with a game
at East Forsyth.
