College Men’s Golf Results – Guilford Wins Consolation Round at Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Methodist University shot 836 and cruised to a 16-stroke win over Oglethorpe University Sunday for its ninth Marine Federal Credit Union (MFCU) Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate Men’s Golf Tournament title.

The Monarchs claimed their fourth MFCU crown in five seasons with a six-under-par 282 on the par-72, 7,040-yard Gold Course at the Paradise Point Golf Club. The low 16 scores after the first two rounds qualified for Sunday’s championship round on the Gold Course. Oglethorpe shot 296 Sunday for a 54-hole 852. Greensboro College (270-294-291-855) won a scorecard playoff with the University of South Carolina at Beaufort (271-290-294-855) for third place. Lee University (292-279-286-857) rounded out the top five.

The remaining 16 teams that did not qualify for the championship round played a consolation round Sunday on the par-70, 6,120-yard Scarlet Course. Guilford College shot 272 Sunday and won the consolation round over Christopher Newport University and Berry College, which shot 278 Sunday.

St. Thomas College’s Omar Tejeira defended his medalist title by winning a one-hole playoff among three players that included Methodist’s Dakun Chang. The trio all finished at 206 after 54 holes.

Guilford shot 285-302-272-859 for the tournament. Senior Dusty Roberts (Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County) carded four-under 66 Sunday and posted the Quakers’ low score for the tournament (211). Noah Ratner (71-75-70) and Drew Thompson (73-75-68) both finished at 216. Mitch Robinette (Charlotte, N.C./Grace Academy) (71-80-68-219) also scored for Guilford Sunday. J.T. Thomas (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) shot 72-78-76-226.
