HIGH POINT, N.C. – Elon women’s basketball juniors Ali Ford and Kelsey Evans were named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State Team today, April 2. Ford earned first-team honors and is the team’s only three-time honoree, while Evans picked up second-team accolades for the first time in her career.

Ford was named first-team All-Southern Conference after averaging 14.5 points per game for the Phoenix this past season. She finished third in the conference in scoring and picked up league player of the week honors on Feb. 7. Ford, a native of Morganton, N.C., finished the season first in the SoCon and 11th in the nation in three-pointers made with 2.9 per game. She connected on three or more three pointers in 24 games during the 2011-12 season and became the school and conference’s all-time leader in three-pointers made this year. Ford finished the season third all-time in program history in scoring with 1,498 career points.

Evans earned second-team all-league honors by the SoCon media this past season after averaging 11.7 points and 7.5 boards per contest. A Raleigh, N.C., native, Evans tied a career high mark with 24 points on Feb. 25 against Wofford. The junior forward pulled down 15 boards twice this season against Virginia Union and Western Carolina and scored in double figures 17 times.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.
