GC Men’s Golf in First After Day One of Three at USA South Championship

The Greensboro College men’s golf team raced out to a first day lead at the three day USA South Championships. The 54-hole tournament is being played at the Stoney Creek Golf Club in Burlington, NC.

The Pride shot a field leading 288 (+4) followed by Christopher Newport at 294. Methodist rounds out the top three at 298.

All five of The Pride top five rank in the top ten of the individual standings. Joshua Hudgins shot a team best 70 (-1) to tie for second place. Nick Peoples also cracked the top five with an even par, 70.

Scott Novicki finished with a 73 to tie for seventh, while Kirk Mitchell and Ben Nihart both tied for ninth at 74.

The event will continue on Saturday and is scheduled to conclude on Sunday afternoon.
