College Women’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 21, Randolph 9

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Lily Colley (Wells, Maine/Wells) scored six goals and four assists in Guilford College’s record-setting 21-9 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse victory over Randolph College Saturday.

The victory marked Guilford’s (10-6, 7-2 ODAC) school-record 10th of the season and set a new Guilford standard for league wins in a season.
Sophomore E’leyna Garcia (Plantation, Fla./Pinecrest Prep) also scored six times and added two assists as the Quakers matched the fourth-highest single-game goals total in school history. Summer Frazier (Kingwood, Texas, Kingwood), one of six seniors honored before the game, chipped in four goals and an assist.

Ashley Edwards (Sumerduck, Va./Liberty-Bealeton) netted four goals for the WildCats (4-11, 2-7 ODAC), including a tally at the 5:20 mark of the first half that pulled the guests to within, 9-6. Guilford scored four of the half’s final goals to take a 13-7 halftime lead, and broke the game open with the first five second-half tallies.

Colley set a career high with her 10 points, the second-highest single-game total in school history. She upped her season points total to 72, shattering the former Guilford mark of 69, set by Tina Beahan ’97 in 1996. Colley also set the school season standard for assists with 28, three better than Mary Hutchins’ ’08 standard of 25 set in 2007.

With the ODAC Tournament yet to be played, Colley’s points mark could be challenged by Garcia, who raised her season points total to 71 Saturday. With 52 goals this year, Garcia moved within five scores of Beahan’s school record of 57, set in 1996.

Guilford also set team records Saturday for caused turnovers (167) and draw controls (253) in a season.

The Quakers open ODAC Tournament conference play next Saturday (4/28). The pairings for the tournament will be announced at the conclusion of the regular season.
