*****Not a game for the faint of heart tonight….Excellent work by the two starting pitchers Nick Schofield and Corey Kimber….Kimber didn’t have his best stuff, but he was workinng on just three days reat….Schofield was very tough with his fastball and curveball and slider working and both were strong until late in the game….Doubles by Putnam and Stanely for Page and very big double lste, bottom of the 7th I think it was to tie this game as 2-2 and it came off of the bat of Dudley catcher Big Rick Powell…..1-0 Page early and that stood up for a long time, then 2-0 Page, and then 2-2 on hit by Powell and then Page goes back up 4-2 and then Dudley ties it in the 9th at 4-4 and wins it 5-4 on the bases-loaded walk to Corey Kimber to end the game…Wild and Crazy is the best way to describe this one…What started out as a game that would go 1:20/hour and twenty minutes, ends up going 2:30-plus…..Wild and Crazy game with the back and forth late….

Kimber and Schofield on the hill….9th now in for Dudley K.J. McAlLister….Bottom of 9th Dudley wiins on on a bases-loaded walk-off Walk to Corey Kimber….

  1. Eastern Alamance 6
    Rockingham County 1
    WP: Nick Monroe (10k’s)

Nick had a strong game on the mound, perfect game with just four outs to go when a Cougar poked one into left to break it up in the sixth inning. Ended up giving up two hits on the night, with a scout from the Cardinals looking on…

  2. Eastern Alamance 6

Nick had a really good game on the mound and had a perfect game going with just four outs remaining before a Cougar poked one into left field. EA advances to play McMichael tomorrow night.

  4. Western has fallen apart. What a shame… Looked for a minute like they were the feel good story of the year.

  5. Great game at Dudley tonight. Both teams played extemely hard and good sportsmanship on both sides. Can’t be more proud of how the Pirates played tonight and throughout the second half of the season. Things started out a little rough at the beginning of the spring, but as the season went on, these young men came together as a team and battled in every game. Things are looking very good for next year. Great job Pirates!

  6. To my friends at WG:
You guys have a very good team. Last night was kind of a crazy game with some errors that cost you some runs. DJ also pitched a great game for us.

Regroup, carb up, get those bats going and get ready for the Playoffs. We will be pulling for you to go deep in the playoffs and represent the Metro well.
    Jerry

  7. Thanks GFAN. I think going 10 days without a game during spring break really hurt us, as we haven’t won since. Hopefully we get our act together for the playoffs.
