  1. The Lady Falcons made to the third round last year but let SWG come back late in the game and extinguished their hopes for a state title. This year they have seven seniors with a burning desire to achieve something that no other SEG softball team has ever done and that is make to the fourth round. Junior pitcher Celeste Sheppard has had a stellar year in circle and they will continue to rely on her as they have the entire season.
The Lady Falcons as a team are batting .404 with a .465 obp. Leadoff batter and sophomore center fielder Kara Shutt is leading the team in batting with .597 ba. Senior shortstop Brittany Vaughan is right behind her with a .532 ba. Senior power hitters Amari McNeil and Ashley Hawks have combined for 10 homeruns. Senior second base Jessica Willard is playing well and Junior Brianna Webb has moved over to third base for injured Senior Blair Bauer. Freshman Emma Strouth has taken over the catching duties from Senior Maegan Stanley who is also injured. They also have one of the best outfields in state with Senior Ashley Smith in right, Sophomore Kara Shutt in center and Senior Amari McNeil in left. There are very few balls that get by them and they have thrown out several batters who took their time getting to first base. The Lady Falcons are the only team left from Guilford county in the state playoffs, come out to SEG softball field tonight and support them in their quest to make history.
