Elon’s Watson Selected to NFCA All-Region First Team Softball

SALEM, Va. – Elon softball’s Tomeka Watson has earned another postseason honor as she was named to the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Mideast All-Region First Team. Watson, who claimed the same honor as a freshman in 2010, grabbed one of the three outfield spots on the team.

The junior led the Phoenix this past season with a .371 batting average and 34 RBI. Watson also recorded a .576 slugging percentage and a .442 on base percentage, while also earning a perfect fielding percentage after no errors on the season. Her 27 stolen bases this year ranks fourth on the Elon individual season records list. The Jackson, Ga., native only struck out three times on the season in her 151 at bats and finished as the fourth hardest player to strikeout in the nation.
