Reebok Super Seven Challenge with Rick Lewis on Kanayo Obi-Rapu(NGFS)

Sent to us by Rick Lewis at the Phenom Hoop Report(www.phenomreport.com)…This report is on Kanayo Obi-Rapu, a point guard from the New Garden Friends School…A good one and a tall PG at 6’4…..Rick with the word on Obi-Rapu….

6’4 2014 Kanayo Obi-Rapu– Team Cobras 17U: We tweeted several times on opening night about the potential of this young PG. Obi-Rapu has the perfect body for an elite level PG and has good solid fundamentals. He averaged 16 PPG for Team Cobra and showed glimpses of his ability by scoring in different positions on the court. He showcased his ability to knock down perimeter jumpers and was equally impressive in the mid-range dribble drive pull up. While he is solid currently in his decision making at the lead guard position, it should be a position he could easily transition into. He has the fundamentals and understanding of the game combined with his athleticism that should see his list of suitors grow. In one sequence on opening night, Obi-Rapu shoe came off in an offensive transition situation, as the opposing team grabbed the missed shot, Obi-Rapu sprinted back on defense with only one shoe on. Not many young players would have the presence of mind to do so, but Obi-Rapu impressed up with his overall hustle and blue collar attitude throughout the tournament. Obi-Rapu has a tremendous upside and look for his recruitment to gain momentum.
