Randleman Tigers to face Whiteville in the NCHSAA 2-A Championship Series at Five County Stadium in Zebulon

*****Who was the biggest name player to ever come out of Whiteville? Wasn’t it Tommy Greene, who later went on to briefly pitch for the Atlanta Braves?? Southeast Guilford played in the State 4-A Title Series at Five County Stadium vs. Lee County back around 2000, when the Falcons had Mike McClain Jr. and Toby Middleton on the mound, plus they were led into Zebulon led by Coach Kevin Callahan….*****

  1. I am pretty sure that Otis Nixon was from this area not sure if he was a Whiteville HS grad though.

  2. Otis and Donnell Nixon out of Evergreen, N.C. and where is that, near Laurinburg or closer to Whiteville???

  3. Otis Nixon went to West Columbus High School in Chadbourn, N.C., which is right next to Whiteville. Whiteville and little town called Hallsboro was strong in baseball. Hallsboro is now East Columbus. I remember when Hallsboro played in the 2a state championships in baseball against Sylva Webster when they had the Streater boys. They played each other 3 straight years.
