Logan Thornton’s two-run double in the fifth inning seemed to a perk up Post 63,
giving it the lead for the first time in an eventual 10-4 victory against visiting
Winston-Salem Post 55 in American Legion baseball.

“We were pretty confident we would get that key hit that would get us all going,”
Thornton said. “By the end we started to get key hits.”

Post 63 (6-0 overall, 4-0 Area III Northern Division) piled on the runs in its final
two at-bats, ending up with six doubles at Graham Middle School’s field.

Two apiece came from Eddie Sappelt and Thornton.

“We started out slow and then capitalized on some of the things they did,” Sappelt
said. “It all worked out.”
