UNCG Men’sBasketball Spartans To Be Honored Prior to Grasshoppers Game on June 9

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG’s men’s basketball team will be honored for winning the Southern Conference’s North Division and its new coaching staff will be introduced prior to Saturday’s Greensboro Grasshoppers game at NewBridge Bank Park. Head coach Wes Miller will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The Grasshoppers will host the Lexington (Ky.) Legends on Saturday at 7 p.m. Miller’s ceremonial first pitch will take place between 6:40-6:45 p.m. There will be postgame fireworks.

The Spartans will be honored for winning their first outright North Division title in 2011-12. UNCG went 13-19 overall and 10-8 in the SoCon, including an 11-11 record under Miller (10-5 SoCon) after he became the interim coach in mid-December. Miller had the interim tag removed from his title shortly after the season ended.

UNCG players Derrell Armstrong, Brian Cole, Taylor Hoffer, Drew Parker, Nicholas Paulos, Demetrius Robinson, Trevis Simpson, Korey Van Dussen and David Williams will be honored prior to Saturday’s contest.

In addition, Miller’s new coaching staff of Mike Roberts, Duane Simpkins and Jackie Manuel and directors of basketball operations Kevin Oleksiak and JB Tanner will be introduced to the public.

UNCG Athletics will have a table on the concourse for any ticketing and camp questions.
