New Garden Friends Basketball Showcase coming in December and good Friend, Amile Jefferson(DUKE) will have his team in town for the event

This one be loaded with Bears, as the New Garden Friends School will host his Showcase event, out on Pleasant Ridge Road…..

David Tomlin, Head of School and girls’ basketball coach at New Garden Friends in Greensboro, is pleased to announce that New Garden Friends School will host a “Friends Basketball Showcase” December 21 and 22, 2012 on their Pleasant Ridge Road Campus. The event will feature both girls and boys teams from New Garden Friends School, Carolina Friends School of Durham and perennially strong Pennsylvania teams, Abington Friends School of Jenkintown,Pa, and Friends Central of Wynnewoode, Pa. The format will have the North Carolina schools facing each of the Pennsylvania schools on consecutive days resulting in a South versus North competition.

Pennsylvania teams coming to Greensboro for this event which will be the first of what is planned to be an annual Friends basketball Showcase. New Garden’s boys head coach Dave Secor also acknowledged the Bears’ enthusiasm for hosting this event and the anticipation of some very entertaining basketball. The event will consist of boys teams with a combined 81-34 record last season against strong competition and a girls combined record of 76-38 also against a tough schedule. Local fans will recognize the name of Amile Jefferson of Friends Central who recently signed to play Basketball at Duke University next season.

NGFS assistant boys coach Morty Morgenstern played the major role in setting up and co-ordinating the event. As next season approaches more information about the participating schools will be published.
