Former Elon standout Rich McGeorge named to the College Football Hall of Fame

Many have called him the top receiver in Elon College/University history and we all remember the job he did hauling those passes and making the touchdown grabs for the Fighting Christians back in the late 60’s/early 70’s, when Red ‘Shirley’ Wilson was making Elon College the ‘Kings of the Carolinas’ and the top team in the Carolinas Conference….Rich McGeorge went to play for the Green Bay Packers and he has now been named to the College Football Hall of Fame…Good job Rich McGeorge….

Raleigh, N.C. — Richard McGeorge, former Shaw University assistant football coach, has been named to the College Football Hall of Fame in the Divisional Class.

McGeorge, an All-American and Academic All-American at Elon, set school career records with 224 receptions, 3,486 yards and 31 touchdowns. His records still for nearly 40 years until they were broken in 2008.
