Conference USA Release Includes 2012 FOX Sports and CBS Sports Network Picks
Early Football TV Selections Include Eight ECU Games

GREENVILLE, N.C. –
Eight East Carolina football games, including five at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, are
scheduled for live television coverage in 2012 according to Conference USA’s release
of initial broadcast selections Thursday.

FOX Sports Networks will air three of the home contests, including the season opener
against Appalachian State at 12:00 p.m. on Sept. 1. FSN, which began its partnership
with C-USA last year, will also broadcast Navy’s visit on Oct. 27 and a potentially pivotal league interdivision matchup against Houston on Nov. 3. The Cougars’ trek to Greenville will mark their first since ECU posted a 38-32 victory in the 2009 league title game.

C-USA has identified the CBS Sports Network as the carrier of the Pirates’ games
against UCF (Thursday, Nov. 4) and Marshall (Friday, Nov. 23) following an
early-April date change announcement. In addition, CBSSN will televise ECU’s first league contest of the campaign, at Southern Miss on Sept. 15.

Kickoff times have been established for all three of the CBSSN games, which include
3:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. (ET) starts for East Carolina’s battles against the Golden
Eagles and Knights, respectively. Network and C-USA officials honored ECU’s request for a 2:00 p.m. kick against the Thundering Herd in order to work cooperatively with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s (NCHSAA) playoff schedule during the Thanksgiving Weekend.

“We sincerely appreciate East Carolina University keeping us informed regarding
their television discussions with C-USA as it pertains to their football
scheduling,” NCHSAA Commissioner Davis Whitfield said. “This game will in no way conflict with our state football playoff games, which will be played in their traditional Friday night time slots. As a result, sports fans across the state will have the opportunity to watch the Pirates compete in the afternoon and then support their local high school football team later in the evening. Again, we are grateful for the advanced communication and relationship we have with ECU and appreciate its concern for our programs.”

C-USA also announced Comcast Sports South (CSS) will broadcast East Carolina’s
meeting against Memphis from Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium at 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 and Cox
Sports will air the action starting at 3:30 p.m. from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome when the Pirates travel to Tulane for their regular season road finale on Nov. 17.

ECU’s local television package, which is coordinated by IMG College, and possible
additional selections by FSN, CBSSN or other networks will be announced at a later
date. While a 3:30 p.m. kickoff time has been established by school officials for the UTEP game on Sept. 29, starts for the remaining five contests will be determined once all television assignments and programming arrangements have been completed.
