Change of venue for the Greensboro Roller Derby’s ‘Roller Wars’ event, now at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center

Greensboro Roller Derby’s June 30 ROLLER WARS event, has been moved to the Greensboro Coliseum. Considering the impending heat wave, for the safety of our fans and participants, we thought it best to move the event to a location with air
conditioning.

INTRA-LEAGUE ROLLER DERBY BOUT WITH STAR WARS THEME

Worlds will collide on Saturday, June 30th

Two of Greensboro Roller Derby’s three league teams, The Battleground
Betties and the Elm St. Nightmares, will face off in a Star Wars-themed
bout titled “Roller Wars.”

Modern, flat-track women’s roller derby is a fast-growing sport that is
surging in popularity around the world. Players train hard, strategies are
constantly evolving, and the hits are completely real, but the sport looks
back affectionately at its campy roots with punning nicknames and themed
bouts.

“Roller Wars” will not just feature fast-paced, hard-hitting skating.
There will also be a halftime disco dance party. Fans are invited to dress
up, and members of the local chapters of the Rebel Legion and the 501st
Legion (Vader’s Fist), Star Wars fans who create detailed reproduction
costumes, will be in attendance.

Doors open for Roller Wars at 5 p.m. in Hall B of the Special Events Center
at the Greensboro Coliseum. The bout begins at 6:30. Adults’ tickets are
$10 or $8 with a valid student ID. Kids 12 and under are free. A portion
of the evening’s proceeds will benefit the Autism Society of North
Carolina.

  1. I think we are going. Been a couple of times and had a good time. Ben has been a few times and he really enjoys the outing. I suggest given this a try particularly now there will be AC!
