Three to Captain Elon Men’s Soccer in 2012

ELON, N.C. – Elon University head coach Darren Powell announced Nick Butterly, Daniel Lovitz and Tommy Allen as the team captains of the Phoenix men’s soccer team for the fall.

“All three captains are very committed student-athletes and they represent our program well,” Powell said. “We have chosen three captains, each from a different class – sophomore, junior and senior. We feel it will give each class a link with each captain and coaching staff. The staff, captains and team all eagerly anticipate the start of the season. We hope to build upon our form at the end of last season and keep improving the program”

Elon is coming off its first NCAA Tournament appearance last season, as the Phoenix knocked off the league’s top three seeds en route to the Southern Conference Tournament title.

The maroon and gold begins the 2012 season on August 15 with an exhibition match at Rudd Field versus UNC Asheville. The team’s first regular season contest is slated for August 25 when the Phoenix hosts instate rival High Point at 8 p.m. inside Rhodes Stadium.
