Wil Myers(WES) and Nick McBride(Ragsdale HS) putting up very good numbers in the minor leagues(Myers to the Futures Game)

Just saw former Ragsdale High School pitcher Nick McBride on Sunday, as he is in town with Hickory Crawdads, as they face the Greensboro Grasshoppers this week, at NewBridge Bank Park….Wil Myers, from Wesleyan Academy in High Point, was in the lineup last week, when his Omaha Storm Chasers faced the New Orleans Zephyrs and the Z’s are the Triple A team for the Miami Marlins….

McBride is with the Texas Rangers Low Class A team in Hickory and Myers’ Omaha Storm Chasers are the Triple A club for the Kansas City Royals. Myers is headed to the Futures Game, to be played during the MLB All-Star festivities next week, in Kansas City….Myers is the #2 overall prospect in the Kansas City Royals farm system….

Myers is currently batting .317, with 14 HR’s, 8 doubles, 3 triples and 41 RBI’s, through 44 games this season…..On Sunday, versus the Albuquerque Isotopes, Myers went 2-3 and belted his 14 homer of the season and his RBI total moved to 41 with 3 runs driven in….Solid season going on for Myers, the outfielder, from High Point, N.C……

McBride, the Ragsdale product, is a right-handed pitcher and his current numbers show him at (3-1) overall in 44 2/3 innings, with 14 BB’s and 42 K’s through his 19 games, which have included one start and the rest of his work has come from the bullpen…..On Sunday, versus the Greensboro Grasshoppers, McBride worked three relief innings, giving up no runs on three hits and he struck out two Hoppers….

That’s book on two of our area products….
