Elon Women’s Tennis Earns ITA Academic Honors

ELON, N.C. – For the seventh consecutive year, the Elon women’s tennis team and several of its members were honored for excellence in the classroom by receiving the 2011 Division I ITA All-Academic Team award. Four Phoenix players also earned ITA Student-Athlete honors: Katy Canada, Frida Jansaker, Bryn Khoury and Viviana Stavreva.

“I am very proud of the strong commitment our team has in excelling academically,” said Elon head women’s tennis coach Elizabeth Anderson. “They are very fortunate to have outstanding professors and a wonderful student-athlete support staff to help them in reaching their academic goals.”

A total of 95 Division I programs were recognized as women’s ITA All-Academic teams. To be nominated, the team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 of above. In order to earn the ITA Scholar-Athlete award, a student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner, achieve a grade point average of at least 3.5 and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semester.
