Earlier today everything was ‘no-go’ on this deal, but now MLB.com is saying that the two sides have reached an agreement and that the Marlins have put themselves in a position to sign First-Round Draft pick Andrew Heaney(P) from Oklahoma State….Could we see him in Greensboro this Summer???? Guess we will have to wait and see, but let’s hope so….Christian Yelich(HS), Robert Morey(UVA), Greg Nappp(UCONN) all came here right out of the June draft….
MIAMI — The Marlins have reached an agreement on a $2.6 million bonus with right-hander Andrew Heaney of Oklahoma State, their first-round pick in last month’s First-Year Player Draft, according to MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo.
With Friday’s 5 p.m. ET deadline for signing Draft picks approaching, Heaney and third-rounder Avery Romero are the Marlins’ only two selections from the first 10 rounds who remain unsigned.
The Marlins have not commented on the agreement.
According to reports, Heaney was asking for the $2.8 million signing bonus slotted for the No. 9 overall selection; the team offered $2.6 million. Per team policy, Heaney would have to pass a physical before he could sign a contract, and no such physical has taken place.
