Dynamo to Host Eastern Conference Playoff Tournament this Weekend

The Dynamo fresh off a 5-0 victory over Real Maryland in the South
Atlantic Division Play-off game will host the Eastern Conference playoff
tournament this Saturday and Sunday. The first game (Sat @ 4:00) sees
the Ottawa Fury (#4 Seed) take on the Ocean City Nor’easters, NJ (#1
Seed). The second game (Sat @ 7:00) of the doubleheader sees the host
Carolina Dynamo (#2 Seed) take on Reading United FC, PA (#3 Seed). Kids
will be admitted for free, and adult tickets get you into both games for
just $7. It’s also dollar night with $1 pizza slices, courtesy of Spring
Garden Pizzeria, and $1 beers, courtesy of RH Barringer. Sunday at 6:00
Macpherson Stadium and the Carolina Dynamo will host the Eastern
Conference Final. The winners from Saturday’s semi-finals will battle it
out to represent the Eastern Conference in the National Semi-Finals.

ABOUT THE CAROLINA DYNAMO
(11-1-4 Regular Season) South Atlantic Division Champions

Carolina defeated Real Maryland in the South Atlantic Championship game by
a score of 5-0. The Dynamo got on the board in the 15th minute off a goal
by the team?s leading scorer Hakan Ilhan (UNC G) off an assist from Daniel
Lovitz (Elon). In the 26th minute Shane Malcolm (High Point) netted the
Dynamos second goal of the game off a skillful pass from Jordan Gafa (UNC
CH). Tom McCready (Limestone) recorded the Dynamo third goal off the
first half, assisted by Shane Malcolm. 24 minutes into the second half
Donnie smith (UNC Charlotte) scored the game?s fourth goal, Clement
Simonin (Lander) was credited with the assist. The scoring was closed out
in the 77th minute when Donnie Smith found the back of the net for his
second goal of the game, off an assist by Mamadee Nyepon (High Point).

The Dynamo attack is led by Hakan Ilhan (UNCG) who leads the team in
points with 24 (9G & 6 A). Hakans? 22 regular season points left him tied
for 14th in the 73 team League. Mamadee Nyepon (High Point) has helped
bolster the Dynamo attack as of late and is second on the team, having
scored eight on the season. The Dynamo finished fourth in the League
scoring some 37 goals in 16 games. The Dynamo finished tied for 1st in
goals against, only allowing 10.

ABOUT READING UNITED FC
(11-2-3 Regular Season) Mid-Atlantic Division Runners-Up

Reading (PA) the #2 seed in the Mid-Atlantic defeated the Jersey Express
(Newark) in overtime by a score of 3-1 in a heated match that saw some
nine yellow and two reds cards issued. Reading got on the board fist in
the 27 minute off a goal from Ian Christianson (Georgetown) assisted by
Steven Neumann (Georgetown). Jersey equalized in the 75 minute. Reading
recorded the game winning gain in the last minute of OT by Dante Marini,
Stephen Okai (University Of Mobile, AL) was credited the assist. In extra
time Reading was awarded a PK, and Okai scored, ensuring a trip to
Carolina.

The Reading attack is led by the League?s top goal scorer Deshorn Brown
(Central Florida-13 goals,). Pedro Riberio (Coastal Carolina) and Kyle
McCarthy (Villanova) both finished with 10 points on the season, followed
by Stephen Okai with eight to record the bulk of Reading points. Emmanuel
Martin (Penn St.) has carried the bulk of the minutes in the net and has a
GAA of .640.

About the Two Teams.
The Dynamo and Reading faced each other as divisional opponents in 2009 &
2010 with Reading earning all four wins. David Rodriguez (UNC) currently
plays for Reading and helped guide the Dynamo to the Southern Conference
Finals back in 2007. Current Dynamo players have spent time with Reading
in recent years Scott Goodwin (UNC CH), and most recently Shane Malcolm
(High Point).

ABOUT THE OTTAWA FURY
(10-3-3 Regular Season) Northeast Division Champions

Ottawa defeated the GPS Portland Phoenix by a score of 3-2 also in OT.
Ottawa got on the board first in the 66th minute off a goal from Edward
Campbell (San Jacinto College). Portland tied the game up in the 87th
behind a goal from Eric Anderson (Babson). The game went to OT with
Ottawa being awarded a PK in the 106th minute; Tom Beague converted from
the spot. The Fury got their insurance goal in the 113 minute off a goal
from Alex Rodriguez. Portland scored in extra time of overtime off a goal
from Blake Woodruff (East Tennessee State)
Ottawa is led by their three top point getters, William Beague
(Algonquin-19pts, 8g & 3a), Claro Basso (16 pts, 7g, 2a), and Edward
Campbell (San Jacinto-12pts. 4g, 4a). The Bulk of the minutes in the net
have been carried by Nils Carlson who bolsters a .692 GAA.

ABOUT OCEAN CITY
(13-3-0 Regular Season) Mid-Atlantic Division Champions

Ocean City enters the Tournament having received a bye and as the
Conferences #1 overall seed. Ocean City. The Ocean City attack is based
around Dennis Zoncher (Mt. St,. Marys-24pts, 11g, 2a). Frank Tweneboa
(Mercer Community College-15 pts, 4g, 5a) is second on the team in points,
followed by Markhus Lacroix (Penn-8pts, 3g, 2a). John McCarthy (LaSalle)
has seen action in just about every game for Ocean City and has a GAA of
.725.
