North Carolina Divers Prepping for 2012 USA Diving National Championships

Approximately 800 of the nation’s top young divers will be heading to the Greensboro Aquatic Center beginning next week to participate in the 2012 USA Diving Age Group National Championships (August 1-3) and the USA Diving Junior National Championships (August 4-10).

Among the 800 divers are several North Carolina products looking to make their mark on the national diving scene (please click HERE for list of NC qualifiers below; divers who have already registered at press time listed in BOLD).

The diving action at the GAC in August will culminate with the AT&T National Diving Championships (August 14-19). One of the premier diving events held each year, the 2012 AT&T Nationals is expected to draw approximately 150 of the nation’s best divers, including members of the U.S. Olympic team.

Tickets for all three national-level competitions are on sale now at www.ticketmaster.com, charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000, Ticketmaster outlets at participating Walmart locations and the Greensboro Coliseum box office.

All session ticket books for the USA Diving Junior National Championships (seven sessions) are $40 and all-session ticket books for the USA Diving Age Group National Championships (three sessions) are $25. All-session ticket books for the AT&T National Diving Championships (six sessions) are $40.For all three competitions, individual session tickets are $10 (age 6 and under- free) and are valid for that entire day’s events. Seating for all three events is general admission.

2012 will mark the first time since 2006 that the junior nationals and AT&T Nationals have been held at the same venue, a plus for divers and coaches who will be involved in both events as they can continue training instead of travelling to another city and acclimating to a new facility.

The Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau estimates the AT&T National Diving Championships and Junior National and Age Group Championships will generate more than $8 million in economic impact.
