HIGH POINT, N.C. — More than 25 staff members and coaches from the High Point University Athletic Department volunteered at the Housing Authority of the City of High Point on Friday. The staff teamed up with members of the local Boys & Girls Club landscape the building, planting more than 100 flowers, bushes and trees.

“We love to get out into the community, help out and get to know our neighbors,” said HPU Athletic Director Craig Keilitz. “Being able to work alongside the young men and women from the Boys & Girls Club was a lot of fun and we could really see what we accomplished by the afternoon. We appreciate the Housing Authority for inviting us out today.”

The HPU staff and members of the Boys & Girls Club planted all kinds of different greenery in six different plots around the building. With strength in numbers, the crew knocked out all the work in half the time it was expected to be finished.

  • Great story ! said,

I wish we heard more about of these type of stories in the community. I am sure all of these schools and organizations are reaching out into the community but they should consider telling their story more often. No one can throw cold water on these type of stories. Thanks for reaching out whoever sent this story to this site.
