One year ago, Greensboro, N.C., opened the Colt World Series with a 6-2 victory over Laredo, Texas.

When the young men from south Texas saw they would open the 2012 tournament with Greensboro, they found extra motivation. Laredo used a five-run fifth inning to rally past Greensboro for 5-4 victory in Friday’s tournament opener at Loeb Stadium.

“We weren’t going to let them beat us,” said Laredo catcher Felipe Rodriguez, whose two-run single in the fifth provided the winning run. “It definitely gave us an extra push to win and we just played out our heart.”
